SO excited to get the YR post notification - thanks for the reaction! I have a lot of thoughts on this one so apologies in advance for the length 🥴 So I've learned from other commenters that the St. Lucia celebration is something they do in Scandinavian countries on December 13th - lots of white, candles, singing, etc. like we saw. It was interesting hearing your thoughts about the different characters' possible sexualities, as Simon is really the only one who has identified his. I've seen a lot - A LOT - of different reactors for this show (bc I'm clearly obsessed) and nearly all call out August for re-watching the video so much. A few others have also questioned whether it was because he liked what he saw and maybe isn't straight. My sense was always that the scenes of him re-watching it were to show us that he was struggling with what to do with the information, initially because it was such a shock, and then because obviously he felt betrayed by Wilhelm when he called him out about his finances and was grappling with whether or not to release it as payback. The writers I think do a really good job of giving August's character a lot of depth, despite the fact that pretty much the only thing everyone seems to agree on (myself included) is that August is a scumbag. As far as him asking about Wilhelm making a good king and how Wilhelm may react to the video coming out, I actually think the biggest issue comes from his position as crowned prince and what him being in a gay relationship means for the monarchy, rather than worry over people taking issue with him being queer. Sweden is apparently very LGBTQIA friendly and -fun fact- the Swedish monarchy spoke out after the popularity of this show that they would have no issue with someone in the royal family being gay (yay!) But August is shown to value his position as royalty above all else, and while Wilhelm does not, he DOES clearly value his family relationships and wants to make them happy (especially after the death of his brother). You were wondering during the fish scene whether the two main actors were gay - understandably cause that scene is SO GOOD ❤️‍🔥- so here's what I know! Both Edvin (Wilhelm) and Omar (Simon) have talked about rejecting the idea of having to label sexuality and therefore do not label themselves. Edvin in particular has not said more than this and doesn't like to be asked about his personal life. He is only 20 and was 17 when they filmed season 1 ! Omar does identify as part of the LGBTQ+ community - though unlabeled - and has had relationships with both men and women. He is 24 and was 21/22 when filming S1. Interviews with these guys are so fun to watch so I'll link one after you finish S1 in case you're interested! Edvin has been acting since he was like 5 (and it shows, especially in S2 - just WOW) but incredibly this is Omar's first acting role. He is a well known music artist in Sweden, having been in a wildly popular boy band from age 14-18 and now is a solo artist - and his music and music videos are FAB

Thank you for all that tea! I love that the Swedish monarch said that. It’s surprising that not only is Omar older than Edvin but a newbie to acting as well since I think he’s really good and natural. Not surprising that he is a singer since his voice is beautiful. I like both these actors so far and the acting and show itself is more realistic of gay relationships than Heartstopper.
