Big fan of this one - and the 'conclusion' to this first little arc with Ferrix/Cassian's origin/etc.. Firstly, again, I'm a big enjoyer of the soundtrack to this show, especially the final piece during the climax. Also, you may have noticed, but the opening theme's music changes every time; it's the same melody, but each is played with differing instruments/tone, sort of setting a mood for the episode. I've seen a lot of complaints about it being quite long.. but I'd argue it's really effective and simple. I think Andor was searching for his sister at the bar as he heard there was a girl from Kenari there. I imagine he's been looking for leads for a long time, but that one happened to be a turning point, with him killing those officers. Luthen's a welcome addition here; he's sorta representing the core motive of the show (rebellion), pulling Andor into where the story will go next (it's been pretty aimless thus far, but that's not a bad thing!) Ferrix and its community is the heart of that side of the series, and personally I think we did have some little bits showcasing how tight-knit they are as a place. For example, the 'glove wall' which you pointed out as being odd, since people might just steal their gloves-- the fact they put them all together shows the opposite of that, since they seem to trust each other to leave them out in the open. But that's just an interpretation, of course, and we've certainly seen not everyone is trust-worthy.. *ahem*, Tim. Tim getting killed does highlight his idiocy, but it also shows the Empire's ridicolous trigger-happy nature (a commentary on Police, of course). That guy gets 'punished' for killing Tim by being sent back to the ship, but then all the troops leave the scene anyway, to try and avoid responsibility. If those guys had survived, they'd probably have pretended it didn't happen on any reports... In terms of Bix, it's heavily suggested that those two dated/had a relationship prior. Tim's angst around him, and Andor's reliance on Bix has a fair bit of tension in it, plus of course we had B2EMO list Bix whilst Maarva was discussing women Andor's slept with last episode. With Cassian's friend, he's actually the one who hooks that debry onto the ship; it's not explicitly stated or anything, but we see him leaving the scene of where they landed just before the guy tries to fly it up. I also really enjoy how the people of Ferrix come together with that percussive warning, reflecting the regular hammer-chimes that bell guy does, but on a smaller (yet larger) scale. Also love that parrelel at the end between Maarva's kidnapping and Luthen's forceful-invite departures. Really well shot. In regards to Maarva's decision, it's very much as you say; complicated! She steals a child from a tribal planet that she just discovered, leading to him never getting to see his sister again. But she does it out of the wish to save him, since she believes the Republic will purge the planet once they arrive (especially as the tribe killed one of the crash survivors). So from a moral standpoint, there's ups and downs, but she certainly seems like a mother figure to Cassian. I do think he holds some spite for her, though, understandably.. he wishes to leave, and plans to give Maarva some of the money he's hoping to gain, but doesn't want to take her with him. Whether that's just because he doesn't have enough, or wants to distance himself from her, at the very least he says he'll give her some of it-- so he cares for her to a fair degree. Great reaction/discussion as ever! Thanks! 🙏
