Just letting you know that the next special has now been dated for October 23rd, and will likely be streaming shortly after.. Nearly there...

Once again another poor episode. The pattern just keeps happening. Poor pacing, nonsensical plot, inconsistent morality of The Doctor, rushed characterisation. Why is the boy happy to be in league with the pirate queen who killed his father not long ago? Why is The Doctor mad at Ji-Hun for killing the Sea Devil that imprisoned him? Dan can just suddenly slay a horde of Sea Devils in one go? There's no sense of proper progression in this episode either. Lots of weird cuts from the characters jumping from one ship to another. It's an episode that meanders and then ends abruptly. Also the Yaz and The Doctor romance rep is still too undeveloped. It doesn't really feel earned and it doesn't really have any emotional attachment. I still don't see any chemistry between them because they haven't really bothered developing their relationship enough to warrant these feelings. It feels too hollow and under baked. They're really trying to pretend that 13 and Yaz have had this strong relationship when in reality, they haven't. It's basic telling and not actually showing us which is very disingenuous and annoying because it feels like a completely disservice. I don't find it believable at all. 13 has had more chemistry with guest characters than she's had with any of her companions. Jodie truly deserved better writing and material. It's so frustrating in how much the writing and structure has fallen for the show in this era. That shot of the sea devil launching towards the ship is just incredibly bad.
