And we are back to form..... Important historical figures insufficiently worked into a story only because people knowing about them is enough of a prerequisite. If that is actually enough, then fine ok sure why not. There's that disjointed feeling again that I keep having. I felt like you, if they aren't more important to the plot then yeah honestly that does feel like more of a disservice. This writer keeps using this writing method of having The Doctor meet people and clumsily rushing off an explanation to the audience who they are why they are important to history or the future. If that's just this Doctor's personality then ok. This is their specific way of communicating with the people they meet. Then that's just the way he's playing it. But look I'm sorry. To me, it comes off as an unsophisticated writing style. Much like something I'd have seen in school from a bad educational video. "Hey Kids, let's learn about history!" Just properly envolve these people into the narrative and make them integral to the plot. Make them interesting, developed and well rounded characters and give kids the desire to find out more about them. Hey, it's not an awful episode. But it still leaves me cold after a way stronger opener. Yet again Chibs has a real problem with endings for me.

Binged your reactions again. Up to the Flux so a couple of comments may be incoming :D This second part definitely wasn't as good as the first part. A big step down. Too much happening and very little time to resolve everything in a satisfying manner. The companions for once are actually questioning who The Doctor is a good start but there's not enough agency with the scenes where they have to go on the run. Compare this to how The Doctor, Martha and Jack had to go on the run back in Series 3 which felt a lot more tense and serious. Weirdly though, despite Ada and Noor not being utilised enough, I still think they had better chemistry with 13 than 13 does with her companions. It was a bit annoying how Ada had to have her memory wiped whereas 13 doesn't do this with Babbage (the other guy) which creates a complication as he'll remember what happened but Ada won't. 13 seeing Gallifrey destroyed was a nicely directed scene but in retrospect, it feels very underwhelming now after seeing the pay off in the series finale.
