I think even though Jane was telling Jesse she didn't introduce him to her dad for his sake, Jesse's insecurity about not being good enough was on alert and that's why he kept pushing it with her until she finally confirmed his fear by saying "who's you and me?" We can again see how much of a trigger this is for him when he goes right to smoking meth as his form of coping.
