Some parents really are overprotective and smothering like Klaus was to Marcel. I love that Marcel found a way out and learnt how to live life and become a leader on his own. Whilst I dislike what he did to the witches and werewolves during his rule he has always been an amazing leader to the vampires. Only he could’ve effectively guided them out of this. Klaus has grown a lot in the season. He is bettering himself. And this is happening even though his daughter isn’t physically present. I love how Camille has been keeping Elijah company these past few episodes. She’s already a great influence on Klaus and seeing her dynamic with someone else is lovely. But my favourite scene has to be Klaus forgiving Elijah. You could see the relief and weight lifted off Elijah’s shoulders. Daniel Gillies plays Elijah so well !!!

It still holds up!! I keep thinking something will replace this episode as my favorite. Hasn't happened yet! For one, it actually shows that Marcel is VERY capable of leading his people. What makes me so mad and irritated about that is they write it that he CAN win against anybody who's not a Mikaelson. But, up against a Mikaelson, they write him like he's stupid, and his plans never make sense, and that's incredibly annoying! But I do love when they're on the same page. It's just so refreshing to how season 1 went down. Klaus' overprotection of Marcel is a whole other thing. Because I get the feeling, like you did, that Klaus didn't understand that Marcel wasn't leaving for good. He was just going to do something for himself. He wanted to separate himself for a bit. But, we all saw Klaus' wild paranoia that he thought Marcel might LIKE being away, and would ultimately decide to STAY away. Just Klaus Things. Also you KNOW what happened to Joe. He died in the first episode of this season when they were rounding up the batch of rings that was siphoning Klaus' strength. It's a little confusing because we didn't SEE him die. They chose to let Marcel mention it to Josh. I think Marcel had some unresolved guilt about it, that's why Joe was the one who came to him in his hallucinations. Still! GREAT reaction!!

Oh wow I didn’t remember that about Joe! He did look familiar though.
