Laurel

See, I actually like that Cruella doesn't have some tragic backstory. For one thing, I think it'd be boring if every villain got redemption or was written to engender sympathy, especially because in this show most of the villains really don't have to face severe/lasting consequences for what they've done and are forgiven rather quickly. (Hook, for instance, I think should've had more pushback and we should've seen him struggle far more with being good, considering he was a pirate hellbent on revenge for over 200 years, plus the shady things he did once in Storybrooke. I also am not a fan of how his primary motivation for choosing good is Emma rather than because *he* wants it. But that ship has sailed — pun intended — and I digress. At least he's got a new outfit.) Back to Cruella, I think it'd stretch even OUAT's bounds to try and rationalize/soften a character who wants to skin puppies to make a coat 😄 IMO it's a nice change of pace to have a villain just be evil for evil's sake and not have there be a tragic reason for it. I definitely agree about wanting to see more of her, though. Because she's so unrepentant and wacky, the character is a lot of fun and the actress clearly had a ball playing her. This show isn't always great with cohesive plots, but most of the characters in it are quite good, and while Cruella did get some exploration, I wish we got to go further with her and the other bit players. (Sorry if this is a repeat comment, it disappeared the first time.)
