This episode is a bit problematic. Aside from the question about did they need to kill her or not. I think it was all done to get to that ending scene. Sam likely wasn't actually in love with her. Not yet. But he liked her a lot and having to know she "had" to die was something he didn't want to accept. About that - you can't compare this with Buffy. Not really. Warewolves are not the same in different shows. Different rules likely. And we know that Oz got loose several times, so that is not a full proof solution. But, yeah, maybe there was an alternative. But Sam and Dean don't know of any. And they really can't be tied down to worrying about making sure she is safely locked up every month. But it is a weak spot.

I think if the brothers cared about people they would try to save her. Oz got out but his friends always tried their best to keep him locked up instead of killing him. It’s the same thing just a different show. Both vicious creatures during a full moon and don’t remember anything in the morning. And a regular person the rest of the month. Locking her up wouldn’t be a foolproof solution but it would be better than killing her and it being on Sam’s conscience for the rest of his life. Also it’s like Sam said he has the potential to be just as dangerous and his body has been used to murder people and Dean refuses to kill him but they are required to kill Maddie. I’ll never agree with the writers on this one

So I'm just now realizing that season 2 had primarily monster of the week episodes. I've always known that, but I just literally counted the MOTW episodes compared to the serial episodes 😂😂😂, and it's significantly imbalanced. So I'm not telling you anything about the episodes specifically, but the next two are MOTW and then the rest are serial. I only feel the need to say that because I think season 2 is sometimes the hardest to get through because people typically prefer serial over MOTW. And that totally makes sense, but some people get impatient with that aspect. So I just wanted you to know that there is a light at the end of the tunnel 🤣. In my opinion season 3 is awesome. And everybody knows (the fandom) that the show gets it's legs in season 4 and on, so there's no need to preface anything after this. But I'm glad you at least enjoyed this one somewhat, and I'll see ya next time🤗

I mostly agree about season 2 having a lot of MOTW, but for me, I actually really like season 2. It has a lot of character stuff and lore stuff. There is an overall story arc through the season. Or more than one. I think it's about the boys and what's happening with them this season. That's the overall story to me. But, I'm biased. I've always like procedural and MOTW shows. As long as they are good and interesting. I loved XFiles.
