Just to clear up the confusion with the Tardis, its always said St. John's ambulance since it got stuck as a police box in the 60s during the very first episode. Different Tardis's have the ability to literally change shape to blend in with their surroundings, for instance it might become a house or a shed. It probably wouldn't be a police box anymore as they're nowhere near as common as they were when the show was made

The TARDIS got 'stuck' (or refuses to change ?) in the guise of a 1950s/60s police box. They are only appropriate to a few decades of British metropolitan history - aside from London in those few decades it is out of place everywhere and everywhen. The St John's Ambulance sign has always beenn there - old police boxes used to have a St John's Ambulance contact point.

Yeah, those people were clapping because this magic blue box appeared out of nowhere by the river. 😀 I like the look that one of the pilots gives the other, like 'I really hate it when things like that happen'. I wouldn't want to be them having to explain what the hell happened to the aviation authorities. 🤣

And,while we're on this subject - You said "I thought the Tardis adapts to its surroundings and its time period". ?? Have you not been watching this show? :D Since when have you ever seen the Tardis adapt to its surroundings? That's the whole point: it's chameleon circuit broke way back in the First Doctor's era,and it's been stuck in the shape of a 1960's UK Police Telephone Box ever since. It CAN'T become any other shape - that's part of the eccentric charm of the show :)

I see a few people have clarified re: the TARDIS. The other point of clarification I think is that all the people taken over by the Great Intelligence went back to the emotional state/part of their timeline that they were taken from. That's why Celia Imrie went back to being like a child - it was to make the point that she essentially taken over when she was just a little girl.

Love your reactions as ever though and glad you enjoy the chemistry of Matt Smith and Jenna-Louise Coleman. I think she's one of the best actors to play a companion in the show's history personally.

Are some of you trying to trick me? 😂 Yeah the tardis doesn’t adapt to surroundings anymore I don’t know why I said that. Must have been tired, but the tardis police box in at least series 1-4 never had that Saint Johns logo. I’ve looked at pictures from those series. It seems like a fairly recent thing. Oh is this like that character from Buffy who I won’t mention because some here have not seen Buffy and I don’t want to spoil it.🤔

A detail you missed: the book with the little girl on the cover, "Summer Falls", was written by Amy!

The Doctor: "It's camouflage. It's disguised as a police telephone box from 1963. Every time the TARDIS materializes in a new location, within the first nanosecond of landing, it analyzes its surroundings, calculates a twelve-dimensional data map of everything within a thousand-mile radius, and determines which outer shell would blend in best with the environment. And then it disguises itself as a police telephone box from 1963...."

I went back to look - in my head I always see the St Johns Ambulance logo but you're right, it wasn't there for most of the modern series until Matt Smith. It used to be on there - it was on the 1st Doctor's Tardis

Very Intuitive as usual. The St John’s sticker has been on both of Matt’s Tardis since he started, but I don’t believe it’s been there for Chris or David’s. It’s basically just a callback to the 1st Doctor’s Tardis that had the sticker. Moffat did that on purpose. You’ll get a few more callbacks more than usual for the rest of the season, as it’s the 50th anniversary year. I’m sure someone will mention them as we go. Also, that’s why you’ll hear Doctor Who a lot, lol. That bugs some people, but I don’t mind it, I just take it as a callback and move on. Your observations about the internet are straight on. As you probably know from the YouTube algorithm, that the big tech companies control what information is more readily available. It’s a sobering thought, but people just need to dig deeper sometimes and look to many different sources to determine the truth as best we can.

"or is the internet surfing us" I always enjoy your social commentary! I'm glad you liked this ep and find Clara very likable. I agree that Jenna Coleman and Matt Smith have great chemistry. I'm excited to see what you think of the rest of this season.

Elle

I whole heartedly agree about Jenna Coleman's acting.
