He is the best- thank you! ❤️

I’m so glad u watched both episodes! Great reactions. Ep 15 is just so heartbreaking. I especially love the scene where they all argue at the table and the camera focuses on Elena, and then suddenly the phone rings and she’s forced to admit her brother is dead. Also the montage of their house burning down with that beautiful song just gets me every time :( Like you said, Katherine’s a conniving little bitch who has a hand in everything. I’m glad you recognized it was her from the moment Elena got attacked, but then I was laughing at how u completely forgot that scene happened when “Elena” came to rescue Jeremy LOL. They’ve been hinting at someone else being involved in their quest for a while now, and now we know it was her. It’s crazy that it all led to Jeremy’s death. I definitely see your point about it not being the right decision to get Elena to turn her emotions off, but I think Damon was just acting off of his own experience, and he’s always been able to get through things by turning it off. Obviously not everyone functions like him, and I think, like you mentioned, they were all just worried and concerned that she would break down too much to the point of no return. I agree they could’ve given her some space, but they also weren’t sure how far she would go. It was definitely a quick fix and an easy way out. I LOVED your point about how strong Elena is for sticking to her morals and refusing to let people die just to save her brother. I never thought about that! But you’re so right - no matter what, she will never allow someone to get hurt at her expense. But nowww Elena is emotionless. It’s going to be interesting to see what that looks like! Can’t wait for next ep’s reaction.

Fun fact if you didn't already know: Paul Wesley and Torrey Devitto (Meredeth) used to be married. Idk at what point they got divorced but it was while the show was still being filmed. I think at this point they were still married though

I love Damon, but what he did was so wrong. And after this episode people somehow forget that it was Damon who compelled her to turn her humanity off, so they blame Elena for being weakminded and turning her switch off. Elena would have never done it, because it's not in her character to do so. Damon did it because it's the only way he knows how to handle these situations, and that's why he struggles so much with emotions, because he always chooses the easiest way out.

Didi

And even though I ship Delena, I will always choose Elena over Damon because the amount of hate her character gets is pissing me off. Salvatore brothers changed her life, but they also brought so much pain into it, both of them.

Nina what a performance by her. One of her bestest. I get your point it is the easiest way out I think Damon taught she won’t be able to handle the grief and might end up staking herself too cz he knows how much she loved Jeremy and he was all she had left that’s why he said I’m not enough this time around. Honestly won’t say he did right or wrong but to see Elena’s humanity off will be interesting. I’m sure Nina was fedup playing the same role as someone who everyone tried to protect and something like this will make her character interesting. And why not? She should experience all the aspects of being a vampire the good with the bad. I love Elena as a character be it humanity on or off I always find her interesting. I sometimes don’t get the hate her character gets. Anyways thanks for these 2 reactions can’t wait for the next ones 🤗

And the score when she turns her humanity off is just brilliant always gets me chills....

I'm pretty sure that season 4 is directed by a completely different director... because it just gives a creepy vibe..the scenes with rebekah and hunter were creepy af.... without a doubt my favourite season and also the creepiest season of Vampire diaries...can't wait for you to see Silas!!

Megan Brady

Btw, would love to see you react to some more cast interviews! I would highly recommend watching the Season 1-4 Comic Con interviews and panels (2009/2010-2012). It's really fun to see how the main cast interact with each other!

suveemi

Yes the pain of losing her brother was stronger than the sirebond which I think was really cool to see. You missed nothing about Silas story about how he became who is. And careful with the wording here, they never said he is a vampire he is immortal - yes , is he a vampire - we don't know yet

Brandon

Are we just gonna ignore that Elena was willing to kill thousands of innocent (somewhat) vampires for a shot at the cure though?

Libby

I apparently saw the "turn it off" scene very differently than others did. I thought it was ELENA who decided to turn it off but NOT because Damon told her too. I thought when Damon said “turn it off” she comes to the realization that she could stop the pain that way and so she does. I also then interpreted the porch scene as showing us that Stefan and Damon didn’t realize she did it on her own. The thing is... when Damon told her to calm down she still couldn't. I thought that they were showing us that the sire bond was NOT working. Then Stefan and Damon have that scene on the porch where Stefan is upset that Damon compelled/sired Elena to turn it off. He says her humanity was all she had left and Damon says humanity means nothing if you don’t have anyone to care about. Stefan says “she had you” and Damon says "She lost her BROTHER, I’m not enough.” SOO I took that as another ‘’clue’ that the sire bond hadn’t worked and she was the one who actually turned it off. Oh and I also started crying there cause Damon was saying if he lost Stefan, nothing would be enough either. (recycled post)

Libby

@Lulu The moment Jeremy died I felt like no-humanity Elena was a forgone conclusion. (but I didn't think they'd have damon try to make her turn it off) In the scene you were talking about at the table where they keep zooming in on her I really thought she was going to turn it off right there.

He still suggested it. I can suggest to a friend that they numb themselves by doing heroin so they don’t feel pain. If they choose to do it yeah it’s their choice but they probably would’ve been better off not knowing that heroin was an option. Damon took the easy route and presented the easy route to Elena as well. Instead of being there for his girlfriend he chose to just mask the problem hoping it would just go away. I think Damon also felt like he wasn’t enough in general for her as well. His insecurities about whether Elena really loves him have been plaguing him for awhile and he gave up in this episode and decided he wasn’t enough to help her get through this. So he helped her the only way he knew how by teaching her to run away.

Andrea Dcosta

I feel there’s no point in blaming Damon for suggesting this to her. The writers wanted this the actress wanted this lol. It’s a fun new twist to her character and the story so why not ? 🤣

otherboy

We’ll have to agree to disagree about Damon but yes it’s still a fun twist
