Oh my God, you haven't seen Fleabag?! You must! It's brilliant. 😀 I've never been in court apart from a field trip to a magistrates court for a high school level law class that I took, so I've never seen the wigs. 😀 Yeah, they're not supposed to look like real hair, they're just a relic of a fashion from the 17th century... I don't think they wear wigs in magistrates' courts (the court for traffic and other relatively minor offences) or in the UK Supreme Court.

As an aside, traffic offences are classed as criminal offences in the UK, even speeding or not wearing a seatbelt (albeit minor ones, usually). My understanding is that that's generally not the case in the US?

It feels like Broadchurch's take on Veronica Mars Season 2's trial plotline, but I like the way Broadchurch does it more. Really did not like that plotline in Veronica Mars. Really excited for these.

Those cliffs actually do have fairly frequent rock falls IRL. I think there was a big one between when the two seasons were taped. One of my favorite things about this show is the contrast between how beautiful and often sunny the setting is and the darkness of the story. Most murder mysteries tend to have gloomy cinematography and muted color palettes. This show doesn't shy away from bright light and color which almost makes it more realistic, because in reality the world keeps going even after you've suffered a personal tragedy.
