Logically of course it’s a good plan but many of the townspeople are terrified of vampires and have lost love ones to them. It’s not a simple thing to ask of people who have been traumatized to then put their life literally in the hands of vampires and allow them to feed from them🤷🏽‍♂️.

Well they are the only food supply for the healthy vamps so yes they do have to participate so the vamps are strong enough to protect them. The infected vamps are coming so the town has to participate or leave. They are also being pressured by their mayor. It’s not an easy decision for everyone. But what happened happened so it doesn’t matter
