This one isn't super popular but I really like it- I think it's just a breath of fresh air after the last 4 episodes of convoluted plot. It also bothered me that Amy and Rory didn't care more about Melody/River but maybe its been some time? It ties into my problems with Amy and River in general, that they don't act or react like real people at all-they're just this weird Moffat feminine stereotype of "Funny Flirty Feisty" which is the only type of female character we get for a long while. I know Moffat later said, when talking about a future ep about grief, that he didn't want to go too far into it because he thought it would be disrespectful to grieving parents who didn't get to have their dead or missing child turn out to be a space professor. But then I just think that they should have planned the Melody reveal for Amy and Rory's departure and let them raise her in some galactic university to avoid the weirdness.

I quite like this episode, and think it is one of Mark Gattis' better stories. I t by ink its a sweet tale about a terrified little boy, who happens to be an alien instinctively trying to assimilate. The dad is great, and I really like the Doctor's interactions with George. One random thought, watching this over again - early in the episodd you hear the TV announcer while the dad's sitting looking at photos, and she says coming up on BBC 1 is a show with Rolf Harris. I'm surprised they haven't dubbed over that bit yet!😟

Also I read that this episode was originally written to be in the first half of the season before the River reveal, so they don't talk about her at all which is really annoying.

ah I've just looked it up and it was The Doctor's Wife. Would have been much better in the original order i think
