I reckon the 'Face spider' thing was Steven Moffat trying to annoy parents watching by giving their kids nightmares. "How can I scare the kids this time?" 😂

Probably the best Christmas special up to this point. Certainly the most Christmasy! Helped in no small part by the wonderful Michael Gambon. Everyone seems to think of him as Dumbledore, but to me he will always be The Singing Detective (a BBC series from 1987, and highly recommended). Abigail, by the way, was real.y singing in this. She's played by Katherine Jenkins, a well known Welsh mezzo-soprano. So glad you enjoyed this one, its one of my favourites. And almost perfect timing as well, at least here in Aus where "Christmas in July" is a bit of a thing most years, seeing as its winter - although not so much this year as we've all been in lockdown and the restaurants are all shut. Still, merry Christmas, mate! Hope you had an enjoyable vacation. 🎅🎄

I’ve watched this lovely Christmas Special several times, and wasn’t sure if I was in the mood to watch it again. But your reaction to it renewed my pleasure! You said: “Nobody becomes a monster unless they’ve been abused or hurt.” People can make poor choices which lead to worse choices which can affect the kind of person they become, but I believe you’re basically right. I have always felt sorry for the monsters, even the monster in the White House, because they were all children once. Merry Christmas, halfway out of the dark!

Yeah I feel sorry for the guy in the White House and other monsters to a point lol. You’re right, at some point you have to make better choices and take responsibility for your actions, but experiencing abuse or loss can greatly influence the choices one makes. But Trump’s not a child anymore and he doesn’t have someone like the Doctor to guide him to a more compassionate way of thinking so he needs to go😁

Glad you enjoyed this lovely Christmas Special. I also think it is definitely the best one up until this point. I was moved by those scenes even more as I watched you become emotionally swept up in those moments. I shouldn't imagine any actor thinks it's not a privilege to be asked to star in a British institution like Doctor Who. So of course Sir Michael Gambon would bring his A game. 😁

I doubt even the Doctor could fix Trump, who would probably join forces with the Daleks for more votes. Best Christmas Special for me by far, very cinematic and great performances. Chilling that her final song featured the word SILENCE multiple times though, something said quite a lot in the previous Series...

Sir Michael Gambon is Irish-British - and as Daryl mentions above, Doctor Who isn't just a show its an institution - lot of very well regarded actors have appeared on the show and its generally something they take seriously

Great reaction - I love this Christmas special - I really liked that they followed so many story beats from A Christmas Carol - and it was a gorgeous looking episode. Definitely one my favourite Christmas Episodes
