They all have his human part they’re just too scare to let it out and that’s the beauty of this show that it’s so complex there is no black or white on this show!!

Ramel Thompson

Having Humanity is what males Vampires so complex is every Vampire related show ppl watch Buffy,Vampire Diaries,True Blood etc vampires are vicious and some unapologetic because their souls and empathetic qualities are damaged from all the killing, pain and loss they have to go through over an eternity Imagine just living with that for decades, and centuries

Can’t wait for you to learn more about the originals

They did say the mom's name. Mikael said it, it's Esther.

Blood controls Stefan more than it controls Damon. Damon can just take a sip and not need any help to back away. He has a choice and blood doesn't control him. If he wants to kill someone, it is his choice. But he survives on bloodbags. He drank from Bill and mentioned it was the first time he'd drank from the vein in a long time. The last person was Jessica which is around 6 months earlier. His plan was to brother bond and show him what freedom was like away from Klaus's compulsion. Elena was with Rebekah so Stefan had no urge to need to protect her meaning he was genuinely free for the afternoon. Damon thought if Stefan latched hold of that desire for freedom, he'd fight against Klaus to get it. I think it might have worked if even if Mikael hadn't turned up. Damon can't stand seeing Stefan in pain. Maybe a punch, but vampires heal, however, Stefan was clearly in pain in the cellar, and it was too much for Damon to see. Damon is also very aware of the humanity switch as his was off for decades (you will find out why he turned it off), he only turned it back on a little over a year earlier. The emotions hit them all at once so they tend to focus on their humanity slowly. They'd go completely insane if they allowed themselves to feel everything as they would have too much guilt and regret due to all of the things they'd done with their humanity off. The story of how vampires came about is great. This is one of the areas this show really excels and that is the mythology. One of the reasons I love S3, is because of the mythology. I don't see vampirism as a demon, it is never explained that way. It is more like an illness. They suffer from bloodlust and it takes time to learn to control it. Caroline had help learning to control it and because she killed someone, she was highly motivated not to do it again. Combined with her control freak nature meant she was able to control herself early. Not everyone has that. Katherine showed Damon how to feed by lying down in the middle of the road and tricking a passerby. Not exactly a good example to set. Stefan just turned his humanity off the moment he turned. This is the third time Stefan has flipped his switch, Damon has only done it once. A vampire who cannot control the bloodlust is a loose canon. A vampire who's diet consists of Bambi blood is dangerous around anyone who has cut themselves. Mikael didn't know Klaus wasn't his until they became vampires. They found out because Klaus became a werewolf. Mikael was just mean to Klaus for the sake of being a bully. He thought Klaus was his son. Rebekah just wants a normal life. She wanted to get married and have a family. She still wants that, but can't have it. Elijah mentioned there were 7 children in S2. One died in the old world, Henrik died, leaving 5 others. You've met 3 of them. I love this episode. I know you don't like Delena, but I love that moment when they are talking at the end. A vampire's humanity is driven by love, familial, platonic or soulmate love. If a vampire is lacking love, they won't fight for their humanity. Great reaction. I love the next episode, really looking forward to it. Take care, stay safe, stay healthy. x

Damon is trying to teach Stefan how to control (it’s his goal from the beginning) and have fun and be free to get some emotions out of Stefan. Damon is changing, he didn’t kill anyone in a long time and he’s learning from his mistakes which is one of the reasons why I love season 3 because we get to see him develop while being his sarcastic impulsive self which is great because I don’t really want him to change 100% because he’s an interesting character and also I love the brothers bond because they’ve never been this close since they turned, Elena brought them back together in a way unlike Katherine who made them drift apart. And it’s not “good” brother “bad” brother anymore because they’re all in this gray area. ripper Stefan is also cool and the story of the originals is so well written and the chemistry between Damon and Elena is so good too. Also can you react to season 2 bloopers? Here’s the link: https://youtu.be/V9NaoRxa0E4

To hell with Damon and Stefan lol Rebecca and Elena need to hook up. This is a great episode. I really love the Originals backstory. I don't think Damon was 'offended' by what Stefan said, I think that was more like "oh really?" let me prove you wrong. (typical Damon pretending he doesn't care) Stefan also took a page from Damon's playbook and pretended he only told Michael that for himself so he could leave, not because of caring for Damon. Question: Do you have a problem with vampires feeding from people as long as they don't kill the person? I would argue that it is or at least was necessary for vampires. Blood bags have only been around and easily available for a few decades. As far as Damon's plan for Stefan, yes he wants good Stefan back. Damon has said repeatedly that Stefan needs to stop attempting to suppress his need for blood and learn how to control it because he knows Stefan can't sustain it. For a over a century Stefan has been riding a proverbial wagon that he has repeatedly fallen off of. The "Lexi Plan" has failed a few times. This is Damon's plan B: taking him out to drink blood under his 'supervision' to keep Stefan from going too far (defining far as not killing and ripping people apart) and learn to control it. Damon isn't judging Stefan he is FINALLY wanting what is BEST for his brother. He cares what Stefan goes out and does because if Stefan had humanity Stefan would care. He is doing this cause he knows this is what Stefan would want and of course to help Elena. Even though Damon loves Elena he is trying to get Stefan back because he wants her to be happy even if it's not with him. I'm sure you will find a reason to fault that, but that's how I see things. I really liked your commentary at the end, your perspective is always interesting.

You're way too harsh on Rebekah. It's her brother. It's not easy to just turn on him. Also, Rebekah really hasn't done anything to Elena. It seems like you see everything as black and white. Evil and good and that's not the case

otherboy

Yes I do have a problem with vampires feeding from people without their permission even if they don’t kill them. I’m not really concerned with what vampires need to survive. I’m concerned with the well being of the humans, which is why I like Bonnie. Caroline is an exception because she’s not killing. I’m not a fan of current Stefan, but it’s interesting to watch. As for vamps, feeding and compelling people to either forget or to let them continue by taking their fear away is still not something I approve of. I understand that people find it fascinating and enjoy the idea of a vampire, someone who does whatever they want, but I don’t understand when people are offended when I criticize vampires for literally taking advantage of people. As if vampires shouldn’t be questioned at all because they are doing what they need to survive. That’s why I like Bonnie and Ric and at times Elena because they try to see it from human’s point of view. In True Blood most vamps feed from willing participants which is totally different. But in this show vamps feed from people who have no choice and if you question it you’re apparently crazy for doing so

otherboy

Her brother who murdered her mother. Elena told Rebekah the truth so that Rebekah would be angry enough to side with them and help them defeat Klaus. Was Elena being too harsh on her? Elena’s trying to save the one’s she cares about. She doesn’t care whether Rebekah’s feelings get hurt. And Rebekah is far from innocent as she was tempting Tyler not long ago to eat a girl and she threatened Elena by threatening to kill those girls in this episode so yes she has done something to Elena. Elena threatening Rebekah is nowhere near the same as Rebekah threatening to kill someone

hannah123

they do have more siblings they just did not really show them in this episode!

If you have to put something in brackets clarifying that he'll learn about it later, then maybe that's a sign of a potential spoiler and something to leave out. Just a thought

Megan Brady

Please be careful how you word things to avoid potential spoilers or setting up expectations of the season for Brandon that may not be met in his opinion and disappoint him. We want to see his genuine reaction without him being prepped for it! :)

I agree that at this point now that Rebekah knows the truth about Klause killing their mother, or perhaps when she's had time to process what she's learnt, then that would make more sense for her to be so outraged and revengeful to want to kill him. But also, as a couple people have said already, she was younger and more naive and manipulated her whole life to believe it was her father that killed her mother. So of course a huge revelation like the fact it was actually her brother would probably take a moment or two to set in. I see it as she was emotionally manipulated by Klause to always believe and look up to him because he was constantly feeding her his narrative only. When someone is manipulated it isn't easy to snap out of that way of thinking. Because she believed Klause, and her denying the fact to Elena was her in denial. To not believe it is scary and ground shattering for her, so naturally she's in denial and not going to rush to try and kill Klause.

otherboy

I would’ve given Rebekah more slack if she actually was a young girl still who hadn’t experienced the world yet, but she is 1000 years old and she never saw how manipulative Klaus was? If I’m harsh I guess I’m harsh but if someone can’t figure out that their brother isn’t right in the head in 1000 years then...😬 She didn’t need to know that he killed the mother to know that he was cruel, but like she said she didn’t want to be alone so she basically was in denial and overlooked his whole personality because that was better to her than going off on her own.
