Vent pieces are always interesting.

Always have trouble being a beginner again, because after pursuing something else for so long you realise that you forgot what it was like. Music is of particular difficulty for me because it is so far removed from the visual arts. The framework for its theory is completely different and any skills you have with the visual arts have basically zero application in the realm of music composition. The stuff hits you real hard and I find it very easy to get so utterly overwhelmed.

The rectangles in the piece are actually a piano roll of a song I have been struggling to write for the better part of a year. Additionally, there's also a bass clef in the background because, well, I am very slow to read bass clef. The strokes were done with a rectangular-shaped brush that would orient itself based on the direction my stroke was going, the multitude of parallel rectangles was achieved by just rotating the canvas 30 degrees.

I apparently lost a mutual over this, because I was feeling bad and venting about my inability to grasp music concepts whereas everyone around me seemed to be incredibly competent, and they decided to have a whole conversation in my mentions that was basically an affirmation of how competent they were, so that was fun.

It's also available on RedBubble as merch due to a request from a follower, but I haven't announced it formally yet.

Our minds have a truly awful tendency to jump to "I should've known that", "I should've started sooner", "I'm not making enough progress" or whatever in situations like that, you're not alone in that respect. I've tried to get into music several times over the past decade and continuously washed out.

I understand what you mean. And, knowing this, I'm planning to get some form of it from your Redbubble. Not alone in the struggle.
