~Read from beginning~

<prev - next>

I tried not to stereotype Grandpa, but please yell at me if I do so; originally I wrote Esh as mixed heritage because I wanted to include more spiritual references in dialogue and reference a variety of cultures, but I realized I was in over my head trying to pull it all together and also, as a white person, probably tromping around in stuff that wasn't my business. But I really liked the version of his father so I kept his Native/Indian ancestry. Trying to handle it carefully without being appropriative~

I feel like caucasian progressive creators are kinda torn between providing more inclusion and diversity in their work versus appropriating other cultures and damn is it a fine line. I am glad you are cognizant of it and are trying to be respectful. As another white person I have no say on if it’s ok or not but I appreciate this story not being white washed either for what it’s worth.

Have you considered temporary hiring an indigenious diveristy consultant?

As someone who is Native American, I appreciate that you are taking the time to include diversity! It is so rare to see someone who is Native American in media

I hadn't really considered it; I don't know how feasible it is for me but I will keep it in mind!
