Just a heads up, your payments will begin processing on March 1st! Thank you so much for being my first bunch of patrons and I hope you’ll thoroughly enjoy the content I post for you in March :)

I wanted to drop a few more previews of the stuff your donations are going into making and you’re getting the first look at. I know you guys are probably sick of previews and just wanna get into the stuff already! We're almost there!

Yay!

Also, I’ve already started planning future rewards! If you continue funding me, here’s what you can look forward to for April and beyond, along with more original comics and fanart and extra bonuses:

I really really want to draw this coffee shop AU! But I realized that’s a lot of Hannigram and not a lot of Johnlock, so I’ve also started working ahead on a Johnlock comic that I’m considering releasing alongside the Hannigram one. I’m going to work like crazy this month to try to get all this stuff done as far in advance as possible!

Also, I wanted to give an extra thank you to my first funders, so if your payment is cleared for March, I'll be setting up an address collection post for anyone who wants a Thank You card! This is only for the first group of patrons; I won't be sending out this card again!

Finally, I want to talk a little about the future of this Patreon.

I’ve done some number crunching and I’ve determined that if I can reach a monthly goal of $3000 in completed payments, this Patreon will be sustainable. As most of you know, I'm attempting to do this full time, since there is no way I'd be able to run a Patreon with a regular job, so this and a small amount of freelance work are all I have right now to make a living.

I’m not asking for more from all of you, you’ve already done your part by pledging at all and I love you for it, but I will continue to campaign for more patrons over the next month, and I hope you guys will continue to spread the word. But I wanted to let you all know about this. I’ve given myself a time limit for this whole project, and so I’ve decided if I can’t hit that number by April 1st, then I have to start looking for a full time position elsewhere. I will still deliver any content I’ve promised, but I will start to scale back or possibly shut down this Patreon in April if it’s looking bleak. I definitely won’t continue charging anyone if I won’t have time to make the art, so please don't worry about that.

You’ve all given me a lot of hope though; this Patreon already exceeded my expectations and I wouldn't even be pushing into a second month if I didn't think it had a chance. I'll do my best this month to make it happen! Thank you so much for liking my work and wanting to see more of it, and I hope we can keep doing this for a long long time!

Care to share some of those numbers (for those of us who are considering starting a Patreon as well). What percentage goes away in Patreon's cut and payment processing fees and then what percentage is the regular tax?

I am seriously starting to consider worshipping you as a god. I adore your art and your dedication that much xP This is exactly the reason I joined Patreon and started funding people. I cannot wait to see what you come up with in the future! When that first payment clears I'm DEFINITELY getting a card! x'3

The Patreon/transaction fee is about 10%; there are additional fees that apply after payments are processed but I haven't gone through that process yet so I'm not sure exactly what that will look like. Tax is a different situation that is unique to every person, so I can't divulge my personal tax information, but in general, I believe self employment tax is about 15% and as a self employed person you have to pay quarterly estimated tax directly to the IRS. The US tax situation is bonkers, I'm still trying to wrap my brain around all the loose ends of my new situation.

I can't wait to see stargazing Hannigram, gosh <3. Maybe you'd be able to make more money if you sold prints? I think I've seen somewhere that there was a reason you didn't want to, but maybe this applied to when you were juggling a full time job.

I sell prints through other sites, but yeah, I avoid selling physical merch personally because it takes a bunch of time for packing/shipping/customer service, and it would also require me to get a different permit and file more sales tax; if I have the option I'd always prefer to spend more time making stuff than just selling stuff lol~ But yeah I might focus a bit on updating my online print shops with some of the stuff here :))

All this Hannigram and Johnlock, I am in OTP heaven! I hope you can make your goal and will continue to support you 100%. Forgive me if this is a dumb question, but have you considered adding a higher tier in order to meet your goal? I know I would happily pay a lot more a month if there was an option for commissions or merch or cards or prints or whatever bonuses. Especially a commission tier actually - you could have a limited number of slots, you get 1 or whatever commissions a month, and commissions could only be for certain pairings/topics whatever your rules. Actually, even if you didn't do commissions I would pay for a higher tier to help you reach your goal, but I would def shell out serious dough for the above.
