I've been trying to set some time each week aside for me to use on whatever projects I want to work on, and this week I attempted to do a rendering study based on some of my favorite fantasy artists... but then I ran out of time and have to put it down and I'm not sure if I'll pick it up again lol~ At least I spent some time studying color choices :P Also I realized he looks a little too "Creation of Adam" lol

I've been looking at a lot of Boris Vallejo and Frank Frazetta artworks still, mostly because it's the art genre I'd like to emulate for Wrut, but also because I love how they render these mossy swampy trees and craggy/alien landscapes and I'd love to get better at designing stuff like that. I also love how particularly Frazetta's illustrations are so well designed that they just have big areas of nothing and don't have to overrender every tiny detail to produce a strong illustration.

I also always have mixed feelings about a lot of this kind of work because, I know they're cheesecake, but in a lot of them the women look really powerful and self sufficient in these really dangerous environments... I'm very into that aesthetic.......

This is absolutely beautiful! Love the way you used the inspiration from the original piece to transform yours.

Da Manki

already looks beautiful as it is. also don't feel bad about liking what you like. there's nothing inherently wrong with cheesecake, only how it's implemented. and the strong women (and men) cheesecake is nothing bad.

What Da Manki said! Also, as several others have said, I too enjoy seeing your inspirations. :D
