Hannibal was going to eat the elf, he really was. But he was cute, and Hannibal was bored (so bored) and he was curious why an elf would seek him out, knowing what he was.

"It's my boss," Will says, hesitantly accepting Hannibal's offer to sit close for warmth, and then quickly forgetting why he should be hesitant. "Jack. Or Santa, now, I guess. Promotion."

"New management again," Hannibal tuts. "They come and go so quickly. Every few hundred years, a new fellow with an even softer heart. I do miss old Saint Nicholas."

"Exactly!" the elf says, waving his hands excitedly. "They're all so fixated on rewarding good behavior. But every year, the route gets shorter. Because they're not doing anything about the bad behavior."

"And I suppose you want me to do something about it?" Hannibal says, keeping his tone disinterested, though he can't deny the spark of excitement at Will's words. 

"Balance is necessary," Will says, and curiously, he flushes. "I don't like it, but I can't deny it. Sending you away was..."

Hannibal smirks. "Rude."

"It was wrong," Will corrects. The flush is still there, and not from the cold.

Hannibal feels a thrill at the core of himself, something long dormant. "I have no authority. No obligation. They've banished me." 

"No," Will says, expression unreadable. Hannibal thinks he looks almost... flirtatious. "But you'd enjoy it."

Oh, Hannibal IS going to eat this elf. But... later. Later. First... he has to see what happens next. He grins wide.

"Say 'please'."

Will, to his delight, does.
