Hey everyone!

This time I have not much to say... not because I didn't work on the project but because I'm working on a feature which I want to keep secret to give you the surprise ^^. I'll say it's related to the movement system.
Apart from that I've been working on other stuff as well as fixing some bugs that were carried from the first three releases.
This kind of bugs are the ones that you prefer to keep internally and not telling anyone just to avoid scaring everyone hahaha. But because they're already fixed and we don't want to hide anything from the development of our projects (well yeah, the aforementioned "feature I'm working on" I'm not telling about but not because we want to hide important information to you but because we want to give some surprises too ^^) I'm going to tell you about them.
After the release of the latest version I noticed we were getting behind in terms of engine versions. We also saw that Epic started adding some new, cool and useful features to new versions of the engine, so we decided to update the project to a modern version. With everything in place and updated but before starting the work on the new Jill, I did some tests to see everything worked as before but noticed two weird bugs I decided to ignore until the new Jill was added in along with her new animation BP.
The bugs were: Jill rotating the opposite way when examining or opening a door and the worst one, Infected didn't move. So they saw Jill, they turned in place to look at her and even attacked her if she was close enough but no movement at all lol.
Those were some pretty scary bugs basically because of the lack of logic behind the "why". I honestly prefer the kind of errors that are thrown with a window saying there's an error (and who prefers otherwise I'm wondering xD). But this kind of bugs are ignored by the engine as it treats them as no bugs at all.
Anyway, long story short, I had to go through the code and compiling every bit separately just to find where the problem was.
The first bug was caused by an "outdated function" (how it went outdated if it was a custom function made by me with explicit code in it which in no way changed at all) that made the door detect Jill always from the same side and making her rotate in the wrong way. Personal question: How does updating the engine maked a boolean to turn from false to true?
The second bug was a bit similar to the first one. I had to "update" some functions that process the movement for the Infected. But then after updating the functions and compiling I found the Infected from the lower floor to keep in place, not moving at all while the ones at the upper floor started acting as they should. And this bug was an epic's side one caused by their Nav mesh volume. After showing the Nav mesh in the level pressing P, saw there was no walkable area for the Infected in the lower level while there was as before in the upper area. So basically all I had to do was reshape it and revert it back to the previous shape (but not using undo/ctrl+z) and it fixed.


And that should be it for this report... but oh wait I said I've been working on other stuff as well and didn't said what it is. But I've written too much already so here, take a look. Hope you like it :P
