My current work in progress - a battle map of an old, ruined church and its surrounding graveyard. Found north of a ruined village, secluded by the overgrown forest, travelers on a nearby road south of the village speak of strange sounds, howls and moving lights in the dark wood. A few have even told of strangers lingering near the road, their vacant stares drifting into the distance when asked who they are, where they are going, or if they need help.

Current plans are to have a small fight between the blessed deity protecting the souls of the graveyard (center statue) and something/someone that has taken up in the church and began to befoul the surrounding graves.

Comments, questions and suggestions welcome!

Looks great! I would have loved to have this when I was running my Rappan Athuk campaign. But then again, I can always use a good graveyard map!

Quick question for your guys' input -- on maps like this, would you want the main church to be decorated in a fairly neutral way, such that you can play out whatever scenario you wanted, or would you want it to be dressed up in state where it's been taken over, and there have been desecration and damage and changes by the new "occupant(s)"?

Well, I decided to do both. I just finished the haunted/desecrated version of the church (and surrounding graveyard) and am going to go back and kinda fix it up so that it's all just a basic church and graveyard, such that DM's can play out more person-oriented stories, rather than horror story. Lower level and alternate version to be included in the full Map Pack soon! =)

Update: Beginning to work on the lower level. In the "Desecrated" version, I am having a battle between the invading darkness and the Goddess of Light that has watched over the Graveyard (center statue surrounded by candles). The chamber below that has been protecting her from the invading darkness, but precautions will not keep it at bay much longer.

Update: Finished the desecrated lower level, and I think it's safe to say -- there's a lot of trouble. I set the stage for both a last stand against the darkness, as well as at least one ally still alive that may have both information and aid to lend to the party brave enough to plumb the depths of this infested church.

Update: I've nearly finished the two versions of the upper and lower levels, with a clean, holy church (and lower level) and a desecrated/invaded holy church. I like the way it turned out, and the options that it provides.
