Hook Horror Lair & Tunnels | OotA Map Pack! (Patreon)
Content
This is my interpretation of a Hook Horror Lair in the Underdark, as featured in the module, Out of the Abyss. The map contains multiple entrances and several twists and turns through the central tunnels, with plenty of details to either follow the module's adventure or hombrew your own!

I've added several features and details to this version of the map that weren't a part of the original map provided for the adventure. They should provide you with some fun hooks to spice up encounters or design your own.
Gnoll Camp - a small gnoll camp lay at the southwest entrance to the tunnel system, while other members of the pack hunt for the hook horrors. The variant map included removes this camp, so that you can place whatever you wish within the tunnels for your narrative.
Water Source & Mushrooms - I added a small spring fed by an underground river that serves as both a water source as well as a potential lair for a water creature.
Purple Mushrooms - Hook Horrors eat a variety of things, including some types of fungii, and this area could either be a food source, enemy lair or environmental hazard should fighting break out.
Spider Webs - Spiders. Scary.
Caves & Crevices - I've added a few caves and crevices that could be the lair of an Underdark creature, or a narrow passage leading between tunnels that could be used for scouting, spying, escape or tactical fighting.
Yellow Spores - Clumps of these yellow spores line the walls of part of the cavern, potentially service as food, environment threats or perhaps useful/valuable ingredients.
A separate chamber in the far southeastern corner is walled off in the .dd2vtt files with a secret door to find the elevated Hook Horror Lair with their eggs. This can be simply left walled off, if your narrative doesn't include them, or built in.
As usual, I've provided a concept image from Midjourney that matches my vision of what the area looks and feels like, as well as a Hook Horror art piece from John Ric Detoon, which is featured in the February theme of the Morvold Fantasy Art Gallery.
I hope you enjoy it and can craft some fun adventures!
