Hey guys! I'm back from FWA, and while I was there, I spent some of my downtime in the hotel room working on a silly little sketch comic. It's only partly done, and I don't plan on coloring the comic, but I've had some folks ask if they could have the PSDs to take a crack at it, so here they are!

https://dl.dropbox.com/s/2kqeelwm36rogar/EWTBAC_pp_1_through_16.zip

Also, I've been toying around with some frame-by-frame animations for the next page or two of the comic (which I'll probably wrap up over the next couple days, now that I'm back home), and I figured I'd give supporters a sneak peek:

Last but not least - a poll! I suspect I already know the answer to this one, but curiosity got the better of me during a conversation at FWA.

How do you feel about side projects like these?

MeekoWolf

Those animations are really good. Would love to see more from you besides rack. ^^

Anonymous

yeah ditto really nice animations fek and i personally picked the 3rd box in your poll as really dont mind as people tend to forget that your patreon is for supporting YOU :D although i think lots of people will probably cancel there pledges if u did side projects that wasnt R2CK2.

fek

I appreciate it! I'm actually really surprised that it isn't just a landslide for Option #1 right now; apparently my suspicion was incorrect. 8D I do wanna be careful, though. I know a lot of the people who support me are totally cool with occasional breaks, but it's games that got me where I am, and I don't wanna spend too much time on projects that aren't the main attraction. XD

Devon

I'd like to say I support anything you chose to do on principle, but I can only see progress on Rack 2 getting even slower, and it's already slow enough that a lot of people out there just don't believe you're actually invested. Just being honest.

Anonymous

Yeah, many people don't get that a project like this starts of with big progress and the more you go into improving and polishing the slower you seem to get. It's natural in tech related projects...

PonE-Sharp

As good as this is, it does worry me, because another patreon i used to support did a similar thing, and nothing ever got done. There were full years that went by with no updates to the main project, and the side content wasn't even close to what the patreon was being advertised for. Albeit you're far more productive than they were, considering their main content was simple flash games. However, I do understand that big projects like Rack can certainly get tiring and it is nice to take a break once in a while. I'd support it so long as you didn't go crazy with it (not that I expect you to!)

The animation is pretty good there (I’d rather see a bigger dick, but that’s the furry talking)

Vangheist

Come for Rack 2, stay for everything else. In all honesty you seem like you've got things organized, Rack 2 has stages an features planned out and even when life hits each update includes new content or system updates and bugfixes alike. I'm confident you can avoid feature-creep and I definitely understand not spending every second on one project, sometimes you need to get a little time away and come back with fresh eyes. Keep up the good work, Fek :)

Yo apoyo que hagas lo que veas interesante hacer, solo digo que en Rack 2 había mucho bug de panzas mandíbula y polla.

Anonymous

I suppose side projects are fine... so long as we get Mustard in the game. >: D

Leo

I hope Mustard is in the game. I have a feeling these side project will delay the progress of RACK 2....

Fenrir

Personally I am not one to judge on what is done or what is worked on. I did take some consiberal thought into my decision as to better understand the question to the answer and had chosen the 3rd option. I am happy with the game and side work as for one I can say about the vote mainly working on only one project can lead to a stalemate where it may feel like it is one's job to work on something and will take the fun out of it and make one avoid what feels like an ongoing job or considered a requirement, and i feel that side jobs or side work is needed in my opinion to get going on what you enjoy or you wish to work on. Hopefully this is taken the right way as I do have tendencies to confuse people. 🐺'

honestly go for it, It’s really up to you if really want to and I want to see what more you can do aside from Rack 2 which I can’t wait to see the finished prodject :D

Anonymous

Now, I'd like to support your other projects, but Im going to be honest (and a tad bit selfish) I think you should finish the project you first started on before working on others. Its fine to take small breaks but you need to commit most of your time and effort otherwise it will never get done. I myself like to do projects, however, if I break even for a few days, the project tends to die off. Now I am not saying you are as bad as me, but the more side projects you work on, the less focus will be on R2CK2. I love your work, Fek, I really do. I've been watching you develop for a long time (Not in a creepy way I swear lol!) And I'm not saying don't do things you want to do. What I'm saying is write down any ideas you have and do them after your initial project. Working on multiple projects is multitasking, multitasking is the most inefficient way to complete goals as it will spread you too thin, your mind will tire from switching back and forth between projects, and development will crawl even more slowly then before. Write down your ideas, save them for later and focus on one project and you can speed up efficiency by up to I believe the study said 68.79% if you focus more on a single project rather then multiples. Sorry for the rant, but honestly I think you should just focus on R2CK2 for now, take mini breaks here and there, but see R2CK2 to the end before seriously working on other projects because they will eat up your time and the longer R2CK2 takes, the more potential patreons you might lose. I have talked with a few people out of Patreon about it and many of the people I talked with think progress is too slow or that you will eventually just give up on R2CK2 as an unfinished project. I think you'll complete R2CK2 sooner or later lol I just hope you complete it sooner rather then later, at least give some more status updates here on the Patreon.

For me personally, I'm here to support you as a creator, and not just the main project. You have my full support to use my donations with any project you wish to go with, be it related to Rack or not ❤️.

fek

Thank you very much for your feedback! I appreciate it tremendously. I do want to make sure I point out that everyone works differently. Some people work most efficiently when focusing on a single task, and other people benefit from variety / become less efficient when unitasking. I'm not sure which study you're referencing, but I can assure you that it doesn't really reflect well on the way I work. (And 87.12% of statistics on the internet are fabricated.) As a reminder, I multitasked working on Rack 1, Bedplay, and Midnight Fireworks from June 2015 through January 2016, and that was arguably the most productive period I've ever had. I get bored very easily, and I benefit tremendously from being able to shift gears. I work best when jumping between small, wildly different projects, rather than focusing on a single long project for a long time. When I took on Rack 2, I was hoping that simply shifting between art and code would be enough to keep me freshened up, but I've found that occasionally shifting gears to something entirely different (in this case, the comics / FBF animation) has helped refresh me a LOT better. Either way, rest assured: I finish what I start, and Rack 2 is still my main priority. :D

hobbified

Not picking anything. I'm here for Rack, but it's rarely useful to tell a creator what to do. Just don't forget about it entirely :)

Anonymous

So r2ck is priority for me once its done do what you want but dont forget to update r2ck ;)

kaleb

honestly, i wont vote. because i do want you to work on r2ck, but im sure that you, as a creator, get bored of only working on one project. so i guess my write-in vote is "work on rack 2, but side projects are forgiven"

Fenrir

Just a little heads up to everyone who is playing the game R2CK, Playing on a dual core CPU is not recommend as I am currently running at a peak of 99% (out of 2 cores) and would be seeing a [Not Responding] it I didn't restrict the game to 2 out of 4 cores. I have tried overclocking to what i felt comfortable with at 3900MHz (+500MHz) however it triggered a 4100MHz clockspeed to catch up (turoboost disabled in BIOS) and the game was still choppy or studders often and does not have the grunt to play the game smoothly, as such this is my scenario and results may vary from computer setup to setup in conclusion a quad-core (4 core) CPU is recommended

McSpazz

I'm personally fine with you doing side projects...but only after R2ck's out of Alpha.

Anonymous

OK i cant just say i would prefer you to work on rack 2 without stating the caveat that EVERYONE NEEDS A BREAK EVENTUALLY! that said i would like to see more rack 2, but you haven't posted anything that i'm not happy supporting you for.

Anonymous

The great thing about Patreon is that it's about you, the creator. It hearkens back to the days of Renaissance patronage. Our pledges are a pragmatic way of saying that we believe in YOU and want you to flourish as an artist. That said, I have a vested interest in that chapel ceiling, Michelangelo, and it ain't going to paint itself. Do whatever you need to to stay fresh -- I'd rather fund a 6-month vacation for you than see you burn out -- but I think we're all primarily interested in seeing the potential of Rack 2 realized in all its alarmingly paraphilic glory.

Anonymous

I agree. As a developer I find distractions and side project very helpful when working on a large project. They tend to lead to random inspirations and innovations and fewer mistakes.

Anonymous

I happily support you in anything you do. BUUUUUUUUT. I'd love to see more stuff in Rack 2. But I dont control you. You control you. I just throw money at you every month. Just do what you enjoy and if you feel like you enjoy making 3d cum dumpsters in a game we all want. Then by all means do that.

Anonymous

I live by the phrase "You do you man." I myself program among other arts (such as music) that I do. Trust me when I say that I need some time away from a project every now and then.

whiskeyfur

Like a lot of other people here, I too believe that if you need to go do something else, do so.

Matvai Cross

I love all of your work and approximate everything you do. I used to pay 100 but had recently got into a slump, so i moved down to 25. I wish i didnt have to, but work is slow for me now. Keep up the good work, and you do you. Lobe you, your awsome.

Imo

My opinion is, that you should finish Rack 2 to a point where its nearly full playable.. i bet the most patreons here, like me, support you because of this project. :)

Anonymous

How about "I mostly support you for Rack 2, but I like supporting any side projects too"

Imo

Am i the only one with the problem, that version 0.2.4. stops working before i can select a subject? it won't let me play it.. :/ other versions work

Anonymous

The website says the new build (0.2.5) is out but I don't see it here, Am I blind?

Anonymous

Good catch! It looks like the release date for 0.2.5 is tomorrow (5/5), though. Based on the description, it sounds like it will be absolutely delightful. Looking forward to it!

Anonymous

ugh. I was ready to try it out lol! I guess I'll be patient

Anonymous

Fourth option for me: I am most interested in seeing Rack 2 because it's the project I'm most excited for. However, I'll support you in whatever you do regardless! :)
