When Felix said to Karen “drug addiction really does destroy a family, doesn’t it” He wasn’t talking about Kevin’s addition, though I argue it wasn’t clear Karen was an addict and not just a user. Depends what you define as a coke addict…..

As ‘terrible’ as the daredevil 2003 movie was let’s just marvel at this: In daredevil 2003 And daredevil series Daredevil and bullseye have their showdowns, in a church with bullseye working for Fisk both times. In the movie the fight happens right after bullseye kills (spoilers) In the series the fight happens when bullseye kills (spoilers) And the symbolism is amazing. Matt is having crisis of faith, battling his inner Demons, or inner devils if you will. He confronted by a man very like himself, no parents, violent impulses, no code of honour. He’s confronted with his dark reflection, with what he could be without restraint he gets from his friends and his faith. And in this episode. Dex breaks rosary beads (a catholic prayer talisman) and uses them as a weapon against Matt, a catholic. He’s defeated by Karen wielding a massive cross which knock him off the balcony saving Matt. And a moment to remember how positive a picture this show painted of the Roman Catholic Church. There are very vile priests and we all know about them but they’re a minority, even if it a high minority of 9%. That’s still 91% that are there to serve their community, provide comfort and wisdom in an image where we need it. Father lantom said many times that no all who attend mass are catholic, everyone is welcome, he rent out his church to the local mosque, he provide spiritual assistance and first aid to the devil of Hell’s Kitchen. And in the end he stood a skeptical priest but he leader of a community. A shepherd standing between his flock and the wolf. Giving his life for a women he knew wasn’t one of his flock, didn’t share his faith but that mattered not, she was a resident of Hell’s Kitchen.

Yeah, I think that's why I assumed he died of an OD, I thought that statement was referring to her brother at first

You know, there was a scene in season 2 where Karen wonders if she’s drawing all the bad shit to her and if Fisk and the Punisher came after her because she deserved to die. At the time I couldn’t understand why she would feel like that and thought the show was just doing that generic “woe is me” routine with her, but seeing her backstory now it makes so much sense why she tries so hard to do the right thing and why she tends to feel guilty about things that aren’t even her fault at times.

Agreeed. Her backstory retroactively makes her a much better character even more than she already was
