This is a good movie and went to see it back in the day 2004. There are good romantic movies that dont follow the usual cliches and thing that I like is if people act realistic. I think the change came in the 90s when realism was added and movies or series wanted to do deeper character studies. One of my favorite movies on that subject is Chasing Amy. Or very romantic Tarantino written True Romance that we always tell you here to watch. On real life love and relationships can be serious business and like in the movie after bad break up many wish they could erase their memories. But we need both good and bad relationships, because those make us grow as a person, you can learn from both and as important to know what you want is to know what you dont want. I have been mostly in long term stuff but had my wild years when I younger and later got married. Marriage didnt work out and I just wasnt happy. Nothing worked so divorce was the best option. My friend asked me last summer that did I regret that I wasted years on that and my answers was "no". I have no regrets on any relationships, a wisdom that has come through time + life experience and getting through that divorce got me to a place where im now and im happy. I live pretty good and have a great job, always had a chance to be a father as much I have ever wanted (had a child in earlier long relationship and im good friends with my daughters mother), im soon only 38yo, I have time for myself and I can do whatever I want with my life. Breakups suck and aint easy, but in the bigger picture they just sting for a while and life still continues after that when you just learn to go forward and experience makes smarter so no need to erase anything. This ends my rant.

Sometimes in life it feels like the outgoing, open, and sometimes talkative one needs the shy, nervous, reserved, intimidated one. And vice versa. That's how I see the two of them. It's a weird combination that just....feels right.

Agreed! Experiences matter and will always be important to who you are regardless of if it's good or bad

Yes and I believe firmly that a person can learn, grow and evolve through his/hers life if a person just wants it. That's the code I want to live by doesnt matter the age. Dont get stuck or waste your life to things like bitterness. If life hits you just mourn for a while, get up, go forward and evolve.

Thanks Scott! Haven't watched this in a long time. Kate Winslet is so beautiful in this. This film really shows you how our relationships can mark us for life and leave us forever changed. There really is no going back no matter what you try to do.

That train scene is my favorite. Joel seems shy but yet so intrigued by her curiousity. Yeah totally. Deleting someone from your mind can happen. Deleting them from your heart cannot. Love is not always just a temporary scratch. It's a permanent mark.
