Yeah the person that wrote Scream 1 and Scream 2 (Kevin Williamson) didn't write Scream 3 for some reason and he only gave an outline of a Scream 3 story he had come up with to the new writer but the new writer completely ignored it and wrote his own. Similar to Scream 2, the script kept leaking online so they went through a lot of rewrites to protect the surprise ending.
