Forgive me for leaving these long, involved comments. I am a huge movie buff, so I'm very passionate with ones I like. And I love this movie so much. I have to say, I agree, the kids were great in this film. Kids are so often annoying in films, but they weren't in this one at all. Everyone's acting was fantastic in this. Including the guy who played Nedrie. He played on Seinfeld, by the way. He played Newman. Oh, and I forgot to mention, I believe the dinosaur effects were a combination of CGI and animatronics. All of them worked so well, even ones that tended to look fake in other films, because they used the right effect for the right scenes, and they knew when to use the potentially more fake looking ones in a minimalistic way. I looked it up, and apparently, the whole movie only had six minutes of CGI. The rest was using animatronics, including the first scene with the T-Rex, the big dino that attacked the truck the kids were in with Doctor Grant. Ian Malcom: "What have they got in there, King Kong?" Godzilla: "Hold my beer."

A few more answers to things you asked. I am by no means an expert on dinosaurs, but I do love them, and I know some stuff. The dinosaur that Nedrie ran into, the one you were trying to work out was or was not poisonous. As you soon saw, it was. It's the same one the voiceover in the van mentioned as being able to spit poison venom at its prey. It's called a dilophosaurus. There has never been conclusive evidence that any dinosaurs could spit venom in that way, but there is nothing to say they can't, either. Or, at least at the time this movie came out, there was only speculation on whether it could. The other dinosaur I believe you asked about, the one that was sick and Sadler was examining was called a Triceratops. Oh, and the other one you asked about which could fly, that's a Pterodactyl. When people pronounce it, it sounds more like Taradacto. I don't know if this film showed any of them. I didn't notice. There were birds flying at the end, but I think those were just pelicans. Oh, and I agree, Grant's going from disliking kids to being the one who looks after them and grows to care about them is some stellar character development. That's the essence of storytelling, right there. I just love this reaction so much. Thank you for sharing it with us.
