Hi patrons!

Here is the second edition of the Doodle Insights! This time, the subject is one I get requested a lot! It's my signature Procedural Dithering that I tend to use a lot!

The link: https://trasevoldog.wordpress.com/2017/02/01/doodle-insights-2-procedural-dithering-part-1/

Edit: The doodle insights were freed of their passwords!

I will be covering the subject on 2 or 3 parts, not sure yet, so this is the first one, covering the basics and giving you hints for what will follow!

Enjoy!

Wow! This is a great write-up. Very detailed with lots of great tips in here. It will take me some time to really digest it.

I'm enjoying going through the insights. The part that always trips me up is the math, I can easily recreate the one where you've listed the formula, clr = (x/16+y/32+t)%16 but I quickly get in over my head while going through your doodles (personal favorite is fireballs.p8 which I have a decent grasp on but doubt I could recreate from scratch, that'd be the true test of understanding). Drives me a bit crazy since I used to be pretty good at math and I've been hoping to create some of my own doodles to help remember more of the subject. Keep up the great work though, it's been really inspiring to play around with pico-8.

Yeah maths can be problematic but to me the solution is to look for formulas on google, even is you just have a doubt. If you used to be good maths, chances are it will be easy for you to make sense of the formulas and key definitions. :) Thank you! I will keep it up! :D
