Hi everyone!

So as I mentioned here on Monday, I've been doing some work for the Frosty Pop Corps again! I was asked to take a look at their upcoming iOS puzzle game Sprnkls and see if I could add some juice to it! Do I did that!

In Sprnkls, you have a grid of colored squares and you want to move them so that you make lines of 3 or more. It doesn't sound very original like that but actually I find that the way it works with the tiles swapping is pretty clever and makes it interesting. I like it.

Mostly, I made a bunch of new UI animations for it, and I also made the burst animation (with particle effects) you can see on the gif above!

I was also asked to do some debugging on the project, which took more time than I would have liked. :/

But anyway, that's done now! I have no idea if there's a release date for this game but I think it's almost done, there's just a few more bugs for the actual development team to sweep out!

Since I'm done with this, I've been back on my LowRezJam game and trying to add the paddle controls. It's not going well.

It's a ping pong game, so the obvious control would be to have a paddle swing and either it hits the ball or it doesn't. The problem is that I can't find a way to make the paddle swing feel good. It doesn't feel as powerful as it should and it's really bothering me. I tried a lot of different paddle movements, tried adding a trail... Nothing seems to do the job.

So either I finally find a way to make it feel like it should, either I find a new gameplay for the game, either I just give up on that game and go do something else. It's probably not gonna be that last one though.

I'll let you know!

Later today I'm planning on writing a guide on how to start making games for the blog! Might only finish it tomorrow though. I'm also thinking of writing something about writing things, why I do it and how I do it and why it's difficult, and this one would be Patreon-exclusive!

That's it! Thank you for reading and thank you for your support!

Take care!

edit:

Found something more fun than paddles I think!

Really not sure I'm gonna finish this game though. It doesn't really feel like a good low rez game... :X

Also, I drafted a plan for the how-to-start-gamedev write-up and... it's a pretty vast subject, huh?
