Chapter 161 Vida POV Chapter 2 of 2 - Never Bargain with a Djinn

When the trials ended, it was as Zeka had predicted.  Only ninety-eight ice orcs, four grays, and seven greens passed.  While they were currently being shuffled off to a party and a chance to listen to other clans’ efforts to recruit them, nearly one thousand three-time losers remained in the Coliseum.  Most of the orcs who passed the trial already belonged to a clan, but that would not prevent the more powerful clans from trying to recruit them.

As the trial progressed, Sasha understood that some stronger orcs fought again even after achieving their three victories.  This way, the organizers could control how many of the young orcs advanced to achieve three victories.  The matchups were not fair. One well-trained male fought nine times, each time achieving overwhelming victory, and he alone eliminated three promising green contenders.  It was all a farce.  Her anger had grown each day during the three weeks of trials.  It was more of a spectacle for the spectators.

Now that the trials were over, she had to listen to the massive white orc Champion again.  “You have been found lacking!  You could not defeat your peers, so you have forfeited your right to remain on Mercanious.” Murmurs raced around her group.  “Do not fret, young ones.  You can still live promising lives inside the transit.  The Pyramid of Winterfiend behind me,” he gestured to the top of the Pyramid rising above the Colesium, “That is your path to redemption.  You can give up and be exiled to the transit or,” he paused for dramatic effect, “fight your way back here after entering the World Gate.”

The crowd of young orcs talked amongst themselves, Sasha only half listening. The volume slowly rose as they discussed their only two options.  The Champion cut them off.  “Choose now!  Enter the Pyramid and be sent to the transit now, or stay here and be trained to fight!”

The choice was about survival, and everyone knew it. Rumors had spread.  If they choose to go into the transit, they would most likely live and become part of the orc city within the transit.  If they chose the World Gate, they would be sent to Everhome and have to fight elves and dwarves and somehow find a way to cross the stars to return to Mercanious.  A steady stream of young orcs headed into the Pyramid, choosing guaranteed life.   Before too long, less than one hundred remained.  Sasha stood with them, following Zeka’s advice.

The Champion smiled, looking down on the much smaller crowd, “Good.  There are true warriors among you.  I hope to see you again when you return to Mercanious and give you the onyx bead to show you are not just deserving of being called a warrior on Mercanious but on any planet.”  The Champion left the raised pillar, and an orc shaman climbed up in his place.

The shaman looked over the remaining orcs, not looking too happy at the smaller group.  “You will come forward and be selected by the expedition leaders.”  Zeka and nine others were standing in the seats of the Colesium, waiting their turn to select.  It looked like there was some type of hierarchy in the selection process.  The male gray-skinned orc to Zeka’s right selected his group first.  He selected nine orc males quickly.  The largest and strongest looking of the entire group.  Zeka was next.  She selected four females, Sasha among them.  Sasha was relieved.  She knew Zeka had a plan, and Zeka knew what to expect on the other side of the World Gate.

Sasha did not see the others selected as she was led away with the other females to follow Zeka.  Zeka led them confidently to a small room in the familiar barracks.  Sasha looked at her new companions that she was now going to rely on.  Zeka smiled as they were secured in the room and focused on her.  She used her aether to hold their attention.  “Welcome.  I have talked with each of you during the trials.  You made the right choice in choosing to go into the World Gate with me.  I am Zeka of Clan Haunted Waters.”

One of the orc females inhaled sharply.  Even Sasha knew Haunted Waters ruled Mercanious.  Members of the Haunted Waters Clan did not participate in the trials.  They had factions of their clan in every city, and all the greatest warriors on Mercanious were part of the clan.  Yet, everyone in Haunted Waters was an ice orc.  Zeka was not; her clearly green skin contradicted her claim.  “But...” one of the women started to object.  Zeka walked to her and flicked her forehead.  The young orc’s expression went blank.  Zeka proceeded to do the same to each orc female in the room.  Sasha wanted to stop her but was hypnotized like the others.

Zeka smiled, “Well, my children, now we can proceed.  As I was saying,” she voiced, not concealing her malice.  “I am Zeka of Haunted Waters, daughter of Champion Tollak.  My father has tasked me with establishing an antithesis on Everhome.”  Zeka’s captive audience did not understand her declaration.  That did not matter to Zeka.  She would use these tools before her, accomplish her mission, and return to Mercanious in triumph.  She would finally be accepted into Haunted Waters.  Not publicly, but she would be a full clan member in private.

The training proceeded with her four charges over the next few months.  Combat, survival, and some simple magic, but that was not the reason these orc females were selected.  It was for their slightly stronger cores.  To establish the antithesis, she would need sacrifices.  All the orcs she had selected had slightly stronger cores than normal.  Sasha was stronger than the others and would be a significant part of the sacrifice.  The simple hypnotism spell she used would make sure all the females would be compliant.

She called them all Tsurani, which in the orc tongue meant useless ones good for only one purpose. She slowly bled them of their personal identity as they trained for the mission.  Sapping their will and preparing them for what they must do.  When the time came, her team moved to the central chamber of the Winterfiend Pyramid.  She was confident and ready to accomplish her mission on Everhome.  She had memorized the maps and knew where to go to anchor the antithesis.

When she was called forward with the other nine teams, she immediately knew something was wrong.  The shaman leading the ceremony was not from the Vengeful Oak Clan that controlled this Pyramid.  Instead, it was a shaman from the Shattered Soul Clan, one of the enemies of Haunted Waters.

The shaman smugly looked over the leaders and their teams.  Zeka was not the only leader in this group who had a mission on Everhome for Haunted Waters.  Unfortunately, all the leaders here were disgraced orcs trying to recover their honor and could not object to the proceedings.  The Shattered Soul shaman announced, “Today we send one hundred and three of our number who seek to gain their place on Mercanious by proving their warrior’s prowess through the World Gate to the planet Earth.”

Zeka’s blood went cold.  She knew very little about the human planet.  It was a masterful play by the Shattered Soul Clan.  There was nothing she could do to halt the ceremony.  She looked at the other leaders who had clenched jaws in their own helplessness.  She did not hear the shaman’s gloating words as he finished his speech.

The massive black keystone was activated, and the Pyramid hummed with its collected energy as the gate to Earth opened.  The black stone started showing varying scenes as it cycled through various transit intersections on the faraway planet it was now connected to.  The first group was ordered through, and then the next. Then Zeka was leading her four to a destination she knew nothing about.

When she walked through the keystone following Zeka, Sasha couldn’t remember her name being under the fog of hypnotism.  She just knew that Zeka was her leader and had taught her magic.  She had learned the ice shard spell from her and would do whatever she was told.  The World Gate gave her a migraine as she passed through.  She collapsed on the soft snow with the others she was with.  Only Zeka had the fortitude to stand quickly.  Zeka was cursing in knee-deep snow. She barked, “Spread out and find us shelter.”  The naked orcs trotted off into the snow, looking for a natural shelter.

An hour later, they were all huddled inside a cave at the bottom of a ravine in a forest.  Zeka was angry and ranted, “Why were we sent to Earth!?  What made those bastards interfere with the Grand Plan of our angelic masters?”  She punched one of the females in the face to release her rage.

Zeka calmed and gained her composure, “Go find weapons and guard the ravine.”  They all started to move, “Not you.”  She pointed at Sasha.  “Gather dry wood for a fire.”

Sasha did as she was ordered, and Zeka started a fire with her magic.  It was clear that Zeka was angry, but Sasha did not know what to do to satiate her rage.  They spent hours while Zeka fumed and periodically had the others come in to get warm.  Zeka finally came to a decision.  “We need to get into the transit and make our way to Everhome to accomplish our task.  We will need clothes and weapons and a map.”  They all nodded dumbly at their leader.

“In order to open the transit, a few of you will have to remain behind,” Zeka announced.  That was an understatement.  She would have to sacrifice at least three of them to free enough aether from their cores to open a gate to the transit.

Hours passed as Zeka planned, but she did not know her location and the location of all the teams that had been broadcast to the Magus Arcanum on Earth on their arrival.  This was an agreement between the angelics from Mercanious and Earth to keep the Magus Arcanum in power.  The demi species population on Earth had grown out of control.  There was a plan to drive those numbers down in the future, but for now, the human-controlled Magus Arcanum needed to be seen as the strongest organization on the planet.  Actions were already being taken to start a vampyre civil war.

Zeka was slowly gaining confidence.  She could do this.  It would have taken years instead of months, but she could accomplish her assigned mission.  Suddenly, a human male rushed into the cave, interrupting Zeka’s work on a ritual-scrying rune.  Zeka cast her hypnosis on him, but it slid off, not taking hold.  Before she could be shocked, an elf rushed in beind him and shot her in the chest with an aether rifle.  As she died, Zeka could not fathom how such a powerful human, who could resist her spell, was only wielding a club.

Sasha was confused, but seeing Zeka get shot jumped into action and attacked the human male.  She didn’t see what he did because he was so fast.  He tossed his club aside, and soon she was pinned to the stone floor and panting as her arms were restrained behind her.  The elf woman walked in and picked up the club.  The male must be her servant and was going to let her do the honors.  Sasha struggled; she wanted to live.

They talked briefly, and then the female elf asked her in terrible orcish, “Why are you here?”

Sasha thought about not answering but instead spat out, “We are here to kill you vile, wretched, deceitful elves.” Sasha only knew elves were a hated enemy, and this one was obviously in charge.

The elf did not seem upset by her words and just asked patiently, “What are these runes on the wall for?”

Sasha did not know but lied, “They are to turn your planet into a frozen wasteland.”

The elf kept asking stupid questions, and she kept giving whatever answer popped into her head.  Finally, the elf gave up and talked to the human male.  It gave Sasha a second to cast her only spell.  The ice shard struck the human male in the chest and shattered, not even penetrating.  Her mouth hung open in disbelief.  It should have at least pierced the skin.

The human then looked Sasha in the eyes, and something deeply routed in her triggered.  Long ago, when the angelics and demons battered on Mercanious with the orc clans as their proxies, the green orcs served the demons.  It made the magic of the demon in the guise of a human that much stronger.  Her body wanted to submit to this man’s magic and will more than anything.  She was utterly beholden to him.

Her hands were tied, and she was taken away. Her mind was a foggy mess, and she did not know what to make of the strange world she was now in. For some reason, the human females pitied her as she told them about her family, the trials, and being sent to their planet to fight for the right to be a citizen of Mercanious.

The demon male, Caleb, did not realize he had triggered something in her. An object of devotion to him beyond his magic and fanned her already hatred of the ice orcs. She wanted nothing more than to please him and show him how valuable she was to him.

He even gifted her a name, Vida. Since she could not recall her past name, so she accepted this new one. One female named Abigail took a particular interest in Vida. It was the first time Vida had been shown kindness. It had an effect on her. As did much of human society.

Going to high school was fun for Vida. She quickly digested the language and had a perfect memory. It made all the class work boring, but Caleb wanted her to succeed, so she did. The human males also salivated all over her, but they were not good enough for her. She even had to beat up a few who verbally denigrated her savior, Caleb.

She did develop one hobby, cooking. It had started with her love of pizza and blossomed into other foods. Orcs on Mercanious had three pleasures, fucking, fighting, and food. This was Vida’s first introduction to the variety of things for her taste buds. She delighted in it and thought that it might be a way for her to finally win over Caleb. After all, the TV device constantly said the way to win a man was through his stomach.

When she learned Caleb was actually a demon in disguise, something deep within her started to yearn for him even stronger. She needed to please him better than his stable of human, catkin, and elf women. She did enjoy watching and listening to him take the others and could not figure out why she was not good enough for him. Abigail had tried to explain that she was too young, which made no sense. Many orcs her age from Mercanious who were selected as breeders would be on their second child by now.

Even as her mind cleared, Vida maintained her devotion to Caleb. When he said he was going to Mercanious, she finally thought she could be of use to him. She had watched her elf friend, Eilina, have sex with him by hacking into the cameras in the cabin house, and everyone else in the house had free use of his male spear.

When he finally raised her core, he still did not consummate it by taking her. Instead, she was required to use a saddle device called a sybian. To show him what he was missing out on, she used her thighs violently on the device and managed to crush it. Still, Caleb, did not succumb to her show of virility and told her to use the vibrator to finish the session to raise her core. She had no choice, as this was her only chance to increase her power and utility to him.

The trip to Mercanious was to be bartered with efeert. Vida was excited to be going and given a chance to show her value to Caleb—who she had to call Apollyon on Mercanious. She was even asked to help him with his orc body. She got an orc champion tusk from the Magus Arcanum with Bedelia’s help. She didn’t understand the process, but Caleb could assimilate the bone into his mind space and make a perfect replica of the orc. It had been the tusk of a green, but Caleb had changed it white, which infuriated Vida, but she did not show it.

When they arrived at Devil’s Tower to summon the efeert to be transported to Mercanious, Vida was excited. She had lots of options open to her. She could reveal herself and be welcomed back as a hero. The warriors sent through the World Gate only needed to return to Mercanious, it did not matter how.

Or she could try to raise Appolyon to take a leadership role on Mercanious. She was certain that once others saw how magnificent he was, they would worship him as she did. When the efeert appeared, it took particular interest in her. Caleb had to take the genasi to make the payment. She was slightly jealous as she assumed Caleb would also give her a taste of his phallus.

The efeert was talking to her Aurora, Iris, and Bedelia when everything went extremely quiet. The others appeared frozen in place as the red-skinned efeert smiled down at her. “You are a most interesting creature. An orc with demonic blood markers. You might produce a child that is truly unique. Do you wish to bargain?”

Vida was confused with the magic and the question, “Bargain for what?”

The efeert smiled, “Whatever is your deepest desire, child.”

“I wish to rule the entire universe!” She responded reflexively.

The white teeth did not break the smile on the face of the efeert, “It is a bargain and therefore the scales of the trade to be balanced. For such a lofty request, I require much of you that you cannot give in your lifetime or even a thousand of your lifetimes.” His smile faded, “Ask for something you exchange fairly for.”

Vida’s mind raced. She knew the djinn were powerful and could grant wishes. She couldn’t pass on this opportunity, “I want Caleb Silversmith to love me the most among his women.” She thought to be more specific, “The Caleb Silversmith that is with your daughter at this moment.” She nodded to herself. The efeert couldn’t trick her now with a different Caleb Silversmith.

The efeert arched his eyebrow, and his smile returned, “Ah, love. The ephemeral emotion tying two souls together.” He tapped his chin, “In return for this, I do not want anything permanent. Just to use your body for, say, ten months.”

Vida was about to say yes. The act of sex was meaningless to her other than a form of pleasure. She would gladly offer herself for a few months to gain Caleb’s focused attention. But she was not that naïve and asked questions, “Would I have to go stay with you for those ten months? What would you use my body for?”

The efeert smiled and liked his lips, “No, you can stay at your demon’s side. I just require your body to carry something for me.”

Vida puzzeled it out, “A child? You want me to carry your child?”

“Ah, you figured me out. Do we have an agreement then?” The efeert approached, and she could smell his scent of cinnamon and ash.

Vida nodded, “Only after Caleb loves me more than the others will I produce a child for you.”

The efeert smirked, “Agreed.” He produced a scroll from his mind space into his hand. “Once your demon lord reads this, he will be beholden to you.”

Haibaikel moved forward and looked in Vida’s eyes, stunning her with the others. He placed his hand on her abdomen and then fuzzed her memories. The contract was struck, and the young orc did not need to remember the details if she had already agreed to the terms. All he needed to do now was get the incubus to read the scroll. Once that happened, his side of the bargain would be complete, and his seed he left inside the orc would grow.

Haibaikel broke the spell when the demon returned and brought them to Mercanious. It was out of his way as he headed to the twenty-second layer to visit another of his daughters. But sometimes sacrifices needed to be made. Maybe one day, he could raise a child that could surpass himself in power. It was at least a way to pass the ages trying.

When he left, he intentionally handed the scroll to the orc girl, knowing the demon boy would eventually be curious and read it eventually to complete the contract.
