This time, I'm gonna take full responsibility for the delay.

I'm calling it early this time rather than waiting around and playing it by ear. How come?  Well, there's a handful of factors - the most notable being the amount of content Joe's decided to cram into this newest release, which is quite a bit more than usual. And while this is ambitious and looks appealing in a vacuum, this isn’t very helpful or advantageous for testing purposes,  and the time required for it. Normally, we'd dedicate a whole week to playtesting, finding bugs and errors and the lot; if we push to the last day of the month, though, then there's no way that this'll happen, and since saves aren't currently compatible, it'll just make the whole endeavor that much more obnoxious.

Now with that out of the way, I think it’s time to tell you guys what’s changed.

Basically...

  1. Pretty much the entire game's been edited and rewritten, and, naturally, changes of this magnitude are sure to torment Joe and our editor with work. Which they did. With this, chapter four is taking much longer than expected, so, of course, it'd be nigh-impossible
to hold our promises of delivering next week like we said. In short: we need more time.
  2. This isn't all bad, though; this allows us to add additional content along the way that wasn't there before, and we're aiming to write the game in a more contextually-cohesive manner, while also doing our best to cut down on the myriad of text and the handfuls of filler. Speaking of new additions: choices will matter more, now; there are methods of making quick shortcuts throughout the story depending on what choices you've made in the past; more reading, if you're into that thing — basically: choices are a lot more important, and the consequences of those choices are much more prevalent, now. But don't fret about getting a good or bad ending, since the endgame content should unlock just the same, regardless of your path. In addition to all this goodness, we're still developing the minigames in act two, but we aren't completely sure if all five of them will make it into this release (yes, five new minigames, on top of everything that's been planned!).
  3. Lastly: even Siserg's agreed that, as more time passes, we get more time to perfect the new scene for everyone. Rather than just piecemealing it and likely blue-balling the player, you'll be able to enjoy it right at the time of release. I hope all of this thoroughly explains why things are the way they are and that it’s something we will be forgiven for.

With all of that, as always, we thank you for your unrelenting support and patience!

You guys are doing good work take the time you need to send out a product you believe lives up to it’s full potential. Thank you for the earlier delay notice.

So what is the new ETA of the new release?

David Nguyen

I don't care how much time you need. If I know you're working on it, I'll wait as long as it takes.

PrecursorDesign

We trust you! Keep up the good work!

rglifer99

Take your time. Just give us a heads up if it going to be a months delay. That way the calm ones can plan a hardcore Minecraft challenge.

Quantequila

If it's got enough content and quality to require a delay it'll be okay.

Keep up the good work!

JoeBanks

Roughly 2 weeks additional, tentatively speaking.

Two weeks is manageable. But is it really two weeks? Is it "Optimistically... two weeks" (which is more like 3–4 weeks) or is it "Two weeks, tops"? Ultimately, none of us would support you if we didn't appreciate the quality of the product. And I think any of us can accept delays as long as our expectations are properly managed. But I'd say that it's better to give people a date further into the future and be able to surprise us with an earlier release than to give us an optimistic timeframe because you don't think people can stomach the realistic one. Because if, in two weeks, you say "Sorry but it's going to be another two weeks" that gets frustrating. We still support you but we'd rather get straight talk.

You guys are and have been working your asses off to make this game better and better with each release and if that means you need a little more time for this next update then by all means please take the time required. You guys are awesome devs and I love your game. Also, drink some water.

VitAnyaNaked

Of course, it is clear that due to the fact that the game has been fully edited, you have a lot of extra work. Keep it up!

SnansMan

do what u gotta do

it is what it is

This better be worth it.

Iorath

Back on the 30th May post Sad Crab suggested you would look at Bimonthly releases, if you're delaying by more than 2 weeks then by default you've almost moved to that and if you delay by 4 weeks you have moved to that.

Ilya

Anonymous

Great work guys, sounds great

Iorath

So it was 2 weeks tentatively speaking 2 weeks ago for the release so how long is it now looking like. The mini game with Susan looked polished.

do what you need you need we would prefer a good game not a rushed one

Two weeks ago, when I commented on this, this is really what I was referring to. It's not like we don't want you guys to put together a great product; we totally want that. It isn't that we don't understand delays; we completely understand it. It is simply the fact that if you say "Okay, we're over our deadline. We've pushed back a time or two and will miss our upcoming target. It'll be another two weeks." and after two weeks it's not ready then it makes us —the people who are still going to support you because we like what you guys are doing— it makes us think "Okay, they have no idea when they'll be done with this thing and they're telling us a couple of weeks because they think that's what we'll be okay with." Just shoot us straight. "Roughly 2 weeks additional" seems that it was "Optimistically... two weeks" because now we're going on 3 weeks. We aren't trying to get you to put out a bad product, we just want a realistic assessment of when the release is coming.
