Chapter 71: intermission – Interrogation 2.

Grace had to insist a few times that she wanted to drive Oliver to his house. She would’ve thought he was ashamed to show her where he lived if she didn’t have a strong feeling that Oliver just hated imposing on other people. She could tell. She could tell.

In the end, the silly boy gave in and Grace took him to his house. It was modest by their school’s standards, but yeah, nothing to be ashamed of. They parted with smiles and a simple wave, and when she saw him going into the house, Grace let her head fall on the wheel, resulting in a soft thud.

She should’ve gone for one last kiss! Just one more! You know, for the road!

Urgh.

She grabbed her phone and sent the obligatory text before driving off. Twenty minutes later, she was home. It wasn’t even 10:00 pm yet.

“Ah, Grace,” her dad greeted her from his seat in the living room in front of the TV, pausing the movie he was watching to look back at her. “How did it go? Everything alright?”

“Yep. Pretty good. I had fun.” That was an understatement, but her dad didn’t need to know she’d been having sex for five hours. All he knew was that she was hanging out with a new friend, which was true.

“Glad to hear. Sarah and Mila are in your room, by the way.”

Of course they were. “Okay.”

“Did you have dinner?”

“Yup. Chicken and fries.”

“Don’t eat too much of that or you’ll be crying in a couple of months.”

“I know, I know,” Grace laughed. “I’ll be in my room with the girls, then. Goodnight, dad.”

“Goodnight.”

Grace’s house was only a single story tall, but it was long. A different room for everything, from the kitchen and dining room to a full library. The bedrooms were the farthest away from the entrance, and Grace made her way to her own room.

Mila and Sarah were there, like her dad said. Sarah was laying back on the bed, staring at her phone and with a couple of the smaller plushies beside her, while Mila sat close by her and played with Mr. Cuddles, Grace’s huge teddy bear.

“Took you long enough,” Sarah said, setting her phone aside. “Now tell us everything.”

“Spare no detail!” Mila demanded.

Grace groaned and threw herself at Mila, hugging her and hiding her face in her friend’s stomach, all the while moaning and pouting.

“What? Did it go that bad?” Sarah asked.

“I think I love him,” Grace moaned.

“Woah. Strong words for you,” Mila giggled and held Grace while stroking her hair. “So it didn’t go wrong at all, huh?”

“Just how often do you go out with a guy that you just KNOW loves every moment he’s spending with you?” Grace asked. “And I don’t mean just the sex, because… duh! No, I mean EVERY moment. We talked so, so much. Like, actual conversation. I had the idea of telling him that we should ask questions back and forth and that got him going. Did you know he plays guitar? That’s so cool! He even told me the reason he quit the music club, and now I need to start a new investigation on some dickheads.”

“I’m not saying I don’t believe you, but how are you so sure he liked being with you?” Sarah asked.

“That’s the weirdest thing. I just… know. I mean, for starters, I seriously doubt Oliver even has the skills to fake interest. If he was bored, annoyed and all he wanted was to get in my pants, believe me, I would’ve known. But it’s more than just the way he acts. It’s…”

“Like a sixth sense, right?” Mila said.

“So you really feel it too?”

Mila nodded. “It’s not like I know for certain, and I’m not saying it’s like reading his mind, either. I just have this feeling that I understand him. You’re the same, right?”

Grace pulled away from Mila and sat straight. “Exactly. It’s WEIRD. And I know he’s not the world’s best liar because he tried to lie twice and I caught him immediately.”

“Oh? What was he lying about?” Sarah asked.

Grace grunted. “We were in the hotel. The same one you went to, Mila, only we got the luxury room.”

“Show off,” Mila pouted.

“We were getting into the hot tub on the balcony terrace when he suddenly started staring at nothing. I got the feeling something was bothering him, so I asked. He kept trying to say it was nothing, laughing it off. Turns out that was a lie, and he was wondering how many guys I’ve been with.”

“Your own damn fault for flaunting it,” Mila told her with a shrug. “I don’t know what you were expecting.”

“I thought it would be better for him to know up front instead of getting the idea that I’m some pure maiden like you.”

Mila blushed and glared, but didn’t argue.

“I agree, you know?” Sarah nodded. “If he thought we were sluts just because we’ve been with other guys before, then that would be telling of the kind of guy he is.”

“That’s not what bothered him, though,” Grace continued. “He didn’t outright say it, but I bet he was worried that he was just one more guy to me. That I’d play with him for some time and then forget about him.” Grace then grabbed Mila by the shoulders and shook her back and forth. “I wanted to ask him out then and there, dammit! You’re lucky I love you two more than I love him, so I kept my promise and swallowed my confession.”

“Wow, you really did fall hard for him, didn’t you?” Sarah said, amused.

“Listen to me.” Grace turned serious. “I’ve gone out with other guys. I liked them for different reasons, but none of them were because I felt I could relax around them. It was always… be the perfect girl, you know? I pretended like I cared when all they did was talk about themselves. I swallowed my complaints when they would call to hang out, only to ask for a blowjob and leave. I would stop talking about myself when I saw their bored eyes and just ask how their day went. And for what? For a bit of shallow companionship, sex, and to be able to say I had a boyfriend to other girls? Fuck that. It’s not worth the effort, and I see that now because…”

“Because?” Mila asked, a big grin on her face.

“Because I had fun today,” Grace said, smiling and with her shoulders losing tension. “I can’t act like the sex is not part of it, because it is. I totally get what you said about ‘getting high on sex’. We spent five whole hours in that hotel room and it was out of this fucking world. But we didn’t just fuck, okay? We went to the amusement park, went on rides, and even in the hotel we kept talking, we relaxed together, we laughed…! I even ended up telling him about the blackmailing rumors when he asked.”

“Oh shit,” Sarah and Mila echoed, surprised.

“You did? What did he say?” Mila asked.

Grace giggled. “The idiot was more worried about my safety than anything else. Can you believe that? I tell him I’ve extorted money out of people and all he says is that it was dangerous.”

“The assholes deserved it, though,” Sarah said, crossing her arms. Then her tone softened. “Then he really doesn’t hold it against you?”

Grace nodded. “And like I keep telling you, it doesn’t feel like he doesn’t care. I… I think he understood my reasons, and accepted them. It… it meant a lot. Thinking back with a clear head, I shouldn’t have told him everything so readily. But I did it because, again, I felt like I could, and I don’t regret it.”

“Urgh.” Sarah got closer to Grace and pulled her into a hug. “Please tell me you told him we were with you.”

Grace shook her head. “He asked. I told him to ask you personally.”

Sarah sighed. “You big idiot. Trying to hog all the blame yourself again?”

“If you don’t like it, you can just tell him yourself. Tomorrow.”

“Oh yeah,” Mila laughed. “What do you have planned, Sarah?”

The blonde flinched. “Oh no. Don’t shift the focus to me. We’re here to ask how your day went. I’ll tell you about mine tomorrow.”

Grace laughed. “Almost.”

“What else, then?” Mila asked. “Give us more details. I told you everything I did.”

Grace and Sarah pulled away and again got comfortable around the bed. “Mmm, what else? Oh! He caught me looking at the carousel and asked me if we could get on it himself so I could save face.” Grace laughed. “It was so sweet, so I ended up coming clean.”

“How can you like carrousels?” Mila asked. “They’re soooooo slow.”

“But they’re cute!” Grace argued. “We ended up making out in a carriage. Almost felt like an actual princess, haha!”

“Making out in public? So he really likes that stuff?” Sarah asked, growing curious.

“Oh, that’s nothing! We then went to the pedal boats and kept asking each other questions. When it was my turn, I asked him what kinks he was into.”

“And?” Mila asked, expectantly.

“Turns out innocent little Oliver is into free use of all things. Imagine that.” Grace smiled and shook her head. “It’s always the quiet ones…”

Sarah’s eyes went wide. “A-Are you serious? That’s… interesting.”

Oh? Grace didn’t expect that reaction from her friend.

“What’s free use?” Mila asked, tilting her head.

“Right. Mila’s actually that innocent,” Sarah laughed. “Free use is when someone’s free to fuck anyone, anytime and anywhere. The person it happens to either likes it or doesn’t respond to it. It also involves no one around caring because it’s normal for some reason or another.”

“Oh. And how do YOU know this?”

“Why do you think?” Sarah pointed a thumb at Grace, who smiled sheepishly. “Grace is into some kinky shit, too. You used to shy away of any sex talk, so she tells me all about the erotic stories she reads. Has made me read a couple, too.”

“Hey, you said you liked them,” Grace said.

“They were… interesting.”

“Ooooh.” Mila understood, then shifted her attention to Grace again. “So… you and Oliver are into free use?”

“Not quite. That’s the easiest name to call it. What we find hot is the idea of public sex with no one caring, the freedom to fuck wherever we want without anyone paying us any mind. Oliver said he got into it because he’s bad at flirting. Definitely wouldn’t mind him bending me over a desk without asking…”

“…” Sarah pursed her lips, and Grace could’ve sworn she heard her swallowing.

“No wonder he likes fondling us so much,” Mila realized. “But you can’t do that stuff in public. I mean, you can have sex in public, but people around WOULD care. Worst case, you get arrested.”

“Well, duh. It’s just a fantasy,” Grace clarified. “There’s no way we can actually do that sort of thing. However… we did hop on the Ferris wheel to make out. Oliver pulled down my top, I took off my bra and he started sucking on my tits while we were high up.” Grace covered her burning face with her hands. “I was so turned on, holy shit. We went to the hotel after that. Neither of us could hold it in anymore.”

“Dammit! Now I want to ask him out again!” Mila pouted. “You spent all day with him while I only got a few hours. We talked, sure, and it was great, but it seems like he spoke to you more. I’m getting jealous.”

“I think he’s starting to loosen up around us. I bet he’ll start talking to you more, too,” Grace told her friend. “And hey, nothing’s stopping us from going out as a group, right? Though we’d have to check how many people can enter a single hotel room…”

“I think I read in their webpage that a third person would have to pay an extra fee, so at least three can get in. I don’t know about four.”

“We said we’d wait a month and see how things developed, but you two are already on board,” Sarah pointed out.

“You’re still not sure?” Mila asked. “No, scratch that. Why would you be? You haven’t been alone with him.”

“Hey, don’t get me wrong. I’m into him, seriously, and I made a promise to him that I’m not gonna break. You two are so serious, though, and it makes me feel a little… inadequate. Is a one-on-one date really that big a deal?”

Grace and Mila both put a hand on their friend’s shoulder and spoke in unison. “It is.”

Grace noticed that Sarah was starting to look a little nervous. She was fidgeting in place and licking her lips. “You’ll be fine! Be willing to take a few risks with him,” she told Sarah. “Trust him. He’s… Urgh.” Grace hid her face in her hands again. “I miss him already, dammit!”

“Trust him? W-What would I need to trust him with?”

“You know exactly what,” Grace said. “Don’t be scared of letting him take the lead. He won’t hurt you.”

Sarah groaned and shook her head.

“Now you can tell us what you have planned?” Mila asked.

“…I couldn’t come up with anything interesting. I was wondering if he’d like to go to the gym.”

“Oh, I asked him if he works out,” Grace remembered. “I mean, with that body, you’d imagine he does, right? He says he only does basic workouts in his room.”

“Are you serious? If he was already slender, then I guess it’s possible. I thought he did something more.”

“Okay, but… The gym, Sarah?” Mila questioned.

“I said I couldn’t come up with anything interesting. Do you know how many of my first dates have been going to the movies? All of them.”

“I get that, but it’s better if you take him somewhere you can talk freely,” Grace suggested. A lightbulb then lit in her head. “Hey, why don’t you invite him to your place? Your family will be out, won’t they?”

Sarah stiffened and bit her lip, but was clearly giving it thorough consideration.

“That… may not be a terrible idea. I’ll… think about it.”

“Relax, woman!” Grace told her friend. “Oliver is like a harmless bunny.”

“...Certainly fucks like one,” Mila muttered in a low voice.

“I’m not scared of him!” Sarah insisted. “Why would I be?”

“Because we keep telling you to let him do his thing and you’re too used to taking control,” Grace reasoned. “Look, do what you feel is right for you, but this isn’t gonna be like that other guy. You should see this already.”

“Huh? What other guy?” Mila asked, eyes wide. “What didn’t you tell me?”

Sarah waved dismisingly. “It’s nothing, Mila. Just a relationship that ended badly is all.”

“She means it was a relationship where the sex was awful,” Grace clarified. “Which is why she didn’t tell you.”

“Urgh. You two have had plenty of secret conversations about sex, huh?”

“Now that you’ve done it you know why we’d want to talk about it,” Grace said.

“Yeah, that’s true.”

“ANYWAY,” Sarah interjected. “Let me do my own thing. I like Oliver, and I do trust him to an extent, but it’s only been a week. Mila I understand since she’s been into him for years, but you’re the crazy one for falling in love on the first date, Grace.”

Grace raised her arms in defeat. “Alright, alright. You win now. I’ll prepare my victory speech for tomorrow evening, though.”

“Urgh, you’re so…!”

The evening continued for the three friends. Grace told them to the last detail of her not-a-date, and after her friends left, went to sleep and dreamt of the boy who just wouldn’t leave her damn head.

Best sleep of her life, too.
