Reina pressed the button for the elevator, and the two girls went up to the fourth floor of the building.

“What the hell was that about?” Ruth jittered one last time. “That woman was creepy.”

“Right!?” Reina fervently agreed. “Like, she was gorgeous, but… Urgh, I need a drink even more now!”

Ruth nodded her equally fervent agreement.

They went into Reina’s apartment, a small but comfortable place for one person. Bigger than William’s, but somehow not as fancy or cozy. Ruth dropped on the couch in the living room and sank on it, exhausted.

“Long day?” Reina asked, walking to the kitchen.

“Not long, just hectic,” the blonde sighed. “Being a waitress at that place isn’t easy.”

“Riiiight. You work at THAT sort of place,” Reina teased.

“Hey, don’t say it like that! You make it sound like I’m a stripper!”

“Well, people aren’t going there for the food, are they?” Reina said with a grin on her face. As she did, she took the bottle of tequila, the orange juice and took the grenadine from the cupboard along with a metal shaker.

“Well, duh, but still! We’re a proper restaurant at the end of the day. Big tits in white t-shirts bring customers in, but no one would return if we sold crap. And besides, you’re not one who can judge me for showing a bit of skin at my job.”

Reina laughed. “I guess I can’t, can I? I’m fully aware most of the people seeing my pictures aren’t women looking to buy new lingerie, but hey, it’s fun.”

“Is it? What’s so fun about it?”

“It’s not going to sound very nice, but I like the attention,” Reina shrugged casually. She poured the tequila and juice into the shaker along with ice, closed it and started shaking it. “There’s a limit, of course, but I like having eyes on me and being a topic of people’s conversations. It might be shallow, but I can’t really help it. They say some artists grow addicted to the sound of applause, right? Well, for me it’s the attention. But yeah, too much can be dangerous, though I haven’t reached that point of fame yet.”

“Urgh, you just had to bring up applauses…” Ruth groaned and shook her head. “No way I can’t understand if you put it that way.”

“Is that why you got into dancing?”

“Yep,” Ruth said with a tired smile as she stretched on the couch. “Did some plays and stuff in high school and got a lot of praise for it. I was a bit of a school idol, you know? They always asked me to perform something for school events, and I always said yes. The applause after a good performance… There’s just nothing like it.” She had a dreamy look in her eyes and a big smile on her, like she was thinking back to those days. Then, she frowned. “When I entered university, though, reality hit me hard. I was just a big fish in a small pond. There are people there who outclass me in every way. Movement, rhythm, coordination, sense… Haha, I almost thought of quitting at some point.”

“I get it,” Reina nodded. “Feels like you’ll never get there, right?”

“Exactly. But in the end, I just love it too much to stop. I want to keep hearing the applauses, so I’ll keep working hard. Mom is paying for my studies, but everything else I have to cover myself.”

Reina sighed. “Sorry if I sounded mean. I was just joking before. I wasn’t trying to mock your job.”

“Relax, I get it,” Ruth assured with a grin. “But yeah, I can understand what you mean by enjoying the attention. Careful with the stalkers.”

“Same to you.”

Reina poured some grenadine on tall glasses before she poured the the mix of tequila and juice as well. Dropping the ice cubes on the drink and stirring slowly only a couple of times made the tequila sunrise take its namesake’s color, turning red at the bottom, orange in the middle and yellow at the very top. Reina put a slice of orange at the edge of the glasses and the drink was ready.

“Woahoho, you’re pretty good at this,” Ruth praised, taking the glass Reina offered her.

“Did some work as a bartender for two years. Not great, but I’ve always liked having learned how to mix drinks. Cheers.”

“To what?”

“To having met, I suppose,” Reina offered with a smile.

“Yeah, I can toast to that.”

The first taste was a long drink instead of a short sip for both of them. The two stared at their glasses for a long moment, neither saying anything.

“Reina, we have to talk about it,” Ruth said.

“But I don’t want to…” the model moaned. “I didn’t want any of this. I just wanted to keep having world-shattering sex with Will, get to know him more, feel the excitement of this new thing I’m apparently into… You’re telling me it’s all because of some sex ghost?”

“You just said you wanted to get to know him more,” Ruth shrugged. “Now you do. He’s either insane and a liar or very, very honest. Me? I have no choice but to believe the latter. I saw him hurt and with broken ribs, Reina. We had sex and then he was fine. Modern medicine would be green with envy.”

“Okay, let’s say we believe it. Then what do you make of him using those… powers on us? He basically manipulated us into liking him, right?”

“I suppose, but don’t even dare tell me you haven’t loved every single second of it,” Ruth argued. “The sex isn’t fake, and he hasn’t lied about a single thing, either. We both knew he was a playboy before we accepted anything.” She sighed deeply. “Look, I want to look at this as objectively as possible first. I don’t know what he’s capable of with his powers, but at the very least I feel like I’m in control of my own thoughts. Let’s not kid ourselves. We both started a relationship with him purely because of his looks and the sex, right?”

“…Yeah.”

“Think about it. All he asked of us was sex, and we damn well wanted it too. Other than that, he made sure to tell us the… polyamorous side of the relationship only applied to him, but I get the feeling that has little to do with his powers.”

Reina rubbed the bridge of her nose. “Yeah. He has some… trust issues.”

“Plus, I’m pretty sure we’re feeling better than he does when we do it. I mean, I never climaxed from just having my tits played with before he started doing it.”

“…” Ruth had a point. It was one of the main reasons Reina liked Will as much as she did. He always prioritized how she felt over getting off himself. Was that just a tactic to manipulate them? “Well, you’re clearly on his side.”

“I’m not making it a secret,” Ruth nodded firmly. “This is weird as shit, yeah. Scary, too, but… I’m sorry, but every time I picture him, I just don’t get the image of a bad guy. I can try to look at things objectively, but when I stop and think of how I feel, I know I just want to stay with him for a while longer. I want to watch him. There are people who use money to get what they want, others use whatever influence they have. But just HAVING something doesn’t mean anything. It’s how you use it, or even how you don’t use it that’s most telling. From moment one, William has been nothing but sweet to me, and I think that makes him deserving of a chance. Maybe it’s been all an act, maybe he’s actually a bastard and a son of a bitch who will turn his back on me when he’s bored. But the thing is, I don’t work with ‘maybes’. I’m not gonna give him up just because there’s a chance he might be a bad person, because there’s an equal chance that he’ll turn out to be a very important person in my life. I don’t know yet, but I want to find out.”

“Okay, Okay! You don’t have to get so passionate about this,” Reina laughed for a moment before calming down, though her smile never went away. “You don’t need to convince me. The thing is… I’ve been trying to see things negatively because I feel the same way as you. If I just focus on my feelings for William, I know I want to remain at his side. That’s why I HAVE to question myself, to make sure I’m not making a mistake, you know? I don’t think William is a good guy, but sometimes a genuine good guy is harder to trust that someone whose desires you understand.”

“Good point,” Ruth agreed, chuckling. “Maybe our biggest issue with William will be how many women he’ll try to bring to his harem.”

Reina bent forward, groaned and covered her face with her hands. “Fuuuuck, what’s wrong with me? Why don’t I see that as a problem?”

Ruth burst out laughing at that. “Maybe you two are more of a perfect match than I thought! I’m a little jealous, actually.”

“There’s something else that bothers me, however,” Reina said, looking at Ruth with a grimace. “If I believe that there’s a spirit possessing Will, then… There are other things I’ll have to consider as well.”

“You mean…” Ruth swallowed. “What the woman at the entrance said?”

A heavy silence set between the two women, a silence they slowly began to realize was… eerie.

“Hey, I just noticed… I don’t hear any cars outside,” Reina pointed out, a cold sweat running down the nape of her neck.

Ruth took her hand to her cheek. “Am I… feeling hot? I haven’t drank enough to feel like this.”

Only now that she mentioned it did Reina start feeling the same. Her cheeks felt hot, and there was also a faint but uncomfortable pressure in her chest. She decided to stop drinking, and went over to the kitchen to grab a glass of water. But when she did and took the opportunity to look out the window, her vision spun and nearly made her lose her balance.

What she was seeing could not be possible.

Outside her window, there was no a hint of the city, but a seemingly endless and deserted wasteland.

Author's Note: Welp. This is it. I've been trying to build up to this ever so slowly. This won't turn into a "transported to another world" story, just so you're aware. I've been too tempted (and scared) to go in this direction, but in the end I really just want to write the stories i want to read. An erotic harem plus urban fantasy sounds right up my alley. I really hope I can write this well. I won't rush any of the ideas I have, because I think proper build up is key here.
