Content

First of all, if you haven't read the Matrimony dev blog post, I highly recommend you do before voting.

The options here are basically about whether or not to extend the development time to accommodate expanded marriage, and possibly other content or to stick to the planned timeline. The original timeline has the final release happening at the very end of 2020, with a  short beta period before that.

A) Do Not Extend: Fit what marriage content you can into the current timeline for release.

B) Marriage Expansion: Leave marriage as an expansion possibility for after 1.0 is released, and leave marriage out of 1.0 except for getting engaged.

C) Extend 6 Months: Plan the final release for Summer 2021 and use the extra time to add marriage and associated relationship content (kinkier/broader relationships, keeping a child).

D) Extend 12 Months: Same as C, with the additional 6 months being used to complete more of the originally planned content that has been cut to keep on schedule.

As the poll stands now the overwhelming majority is for a 12 month extension. To include content I don't want _that_ much. I'm a $10 patron so a year longer than anticipated would mean $120 and I'm not made out of money. Don't get me wrong I love AW but when that is made a plan many patrons will either lower their pledge or drop out all together.

one person making an ominous prediction just because they didn't get what they want... even though the majority of the community is choosing to extend the deadline by 12 months. it's not like the game won't ever be available to play during the extra time... it's just the official release that's being delayed.

I said don't get me wrong but you chose to regardless. Ever heard of a thing named "opinion"? Furthermore the deadline is for version 1.0 which is considered feature complete. That actually is important as it marks more or less the end of the journey.

if you dont want people to get you wrong, then just dont say it. because saying "dont get me wrong" is just a setup for a thing that people WILL get wrong. its fine to have your opinion, but its also fine for me to call you out on having a wrong opinion.

Phaseus

Gonna have to disagree with you on this one. Firstly, there are no 'wrong opinions' because there are no 'right opinions'. Secondly, BL4DE brings up a very real and tangible concern. Are people are willing to pay an extra 12 months of funding, something that they may not have, and I certainly didn't, consider when I voted. Being rude to someone for pointing this out is not a great way to get people to see your side of the argument, and just makes you look like a dick.

Just to clarify, I added the 12-month option because if we extend to add marriage and relationship content, there's an argument to be made that we should also add some of the scaled-back or cut content before hitting 1.0. Basically material that was originally planned for 1.0, but ended up put on hold because of the submission miscalculation. So it's not really a matter of 12 months just for marriage. It's also worth noting that as far as funding is concerned, there isn't much difference between these options. Whether we skip marriage and it gets chosen as a funded expansion, or if we do marriage before 1.0, the funding would effectively be the same, though it may be slightly more efficient to handle marriage before release because it would reduce some effort duplication. I think the only real difference would be that it would be easier for people who don't care about marriage to stop supporting development once we start working on a marriage expansion. That does mean less funding for any given expansion though, and we do figure there will be a limited duration where working on expansions remains viable. In any case, we greatly value your support, whether it is for a month, a year, or longer. Thanks!

2021-10-23 09:55:47 I voted B but D would be my second choice, and really it's only in that order because I feel like marriage content (which I like!) would be of more fringe interest and I'm not sure it's good for the >project< to cater to my tastes in this.

After this explanation, I prefer change my vote to 12 months, my first option was B) Marriage expansion, but now, I think 12 months is a better option.......

Sure Thenalek, I'll change your vote manually. It'd be nice if Patreon let people change their votes on polls with a fixed duration...

Napalm burns

I have voted for B personally. But, D is fine by me too. I chose B over D, as i like the idea of expansions. And from a development perspective, sprints and release windows can still be met for 1.0, draw a nice good feeling line under good software released when it was supposed to. THEN a separate release window for 1.1, 1.2 etc etc.
