Hello everyone, I thought I'd take some time to let you know what's been happening, there's a lot of good news.
Brother Update:
My brother is doing amazing, and is actually being released from the hospital today. (I'm posting this from his room in the trauma unit.) There's been a lot of talk about miracles, which has apparently become a gossip item in the hospital (GMC) in Columbus. He is still suffering from pain and concussion symptoms, but it seems he escaped without any noticeable brain damage. This is an awesome turn around from the beginning, when the medical staff didn't think that he was going to make it, or that there would be some serious brain damage issues. He's been great though, and we'll be keeping a close eye on him.
Game Update:
I've attached the finished (for now) Bullseye navigation map. It's only 250x250px in the game for now, but I can adjust the size (or make a "enlarge" button) based on feedback. Some of the work I've been able to do so far:
- Simplified arrays to be more Twine-friendly, and dropped the JavaScript that uses game variables, using twine markup instead. Combined with a few other fixes, should make saves/play more reliable and hopefully resolve the issues a few people have seen.
- Put in a UI status menu that will allow users to toggle content restrictions at any time, and also change between a dark and light theme. (The light theme still needs a lot of CSS work to finish, as the standard dark theme you've all seen is pretty customized. I should have a nice clean white theme completely ready by September though.)
- Wrote some minor extra content for the Bullseye map, hooks for future content, and but in a few neat things to find. Also got some location images set up in addition to the map, because it seemed too "empty" to leave the location images out as I'd planned.
- Built some of the code for the hair salon and optometrist for players that want to change hair length/styles and/or wear glasses. (There's also a story involving the optometrist that has a small hook.) I don't think I'll be able to finish getting them in by the 15th though. :/
- I went a little off-track with the clothing system, working on some things that I wasn't going to start on until after this release. It should make the process as a whole a little faster though. Basically means leaving out my style/clothing explanations until next version, I was hoping to get them in for 01.9.
