Hey guys,

Here's an article I found today on photographer Maria Sturm that I thought was REALLY interesting. I connected easily to this article because I'm Metis. My mom's side is British and I obviously look like my mom - very fair, freckles etc but my dad's side is Native American (Ojibwe) and French.

I obviously am VERY white passing and there's a lot of privilege that comes with that. I don't discount that at all however, I am def looked at sideways when I mention that I am from a town called Penetanguishene (Land of the Rolling White Sands) and that we are part descendants of the Ojibwe tribe.

The people that Maria documents in this series are from tribes that aren't even identified within their own country. Which I find devastating.

It was a really good read and I hope if you have some extra time today that you take a look.

Happy Monday!

"What makes you Native?": Maria Sturm on her latest series

Her ongoing series, _You Don't Look Native To Me,_ is an exploration into the fact that 90% of the American population identity as native, yet are ignored by the outside world. We caught up with Maria to discuss her reasons for starting the project.
