Heehee, time to post the first results of the rework~ I've redone from scratch a bunch of stuff, including: 

  • the Siege timer now goes with the game's speed and not with IRL seconds(!), who cares about real life! Pop that daytime length to the max and enjoy slow sieges!
  • the Field armies are now placed and calculated with much fewer resources used, and the routes they take aren't bound anymore to set routes. Warring armies won't go after capitals alone from now on! If an enemy city is within the reach of an army, it will get attacked regardless of it being in the capital's way!
  • Oni can already have field battles and sieges. Also, adding future Reigns to the warring routes will take close to no work.

Now, these improvements ended up making a much cleaner system, easy to test and fix in the future, but also much(?) lighter to run(?)

Here are the results, I cloned a save and took a stroll with the Knight, following the same path in both cases (Desert Reign -> Frog Pond -> Human Reign -> Desert Reign) and...

  • OLD CLIENT  Avg FPS: 33.066 - Min FPS: 11 - Max FPS: 44
  • NEW CLIENT Avg FPS: 41.369 - Min FPS: 36 - Max FPS: 47

Couldn't help but notice some hiccups with the old client, while the new one felt just much smoother. I'll test it more, while I finish working on the final bits!
