The one, the only, the sneaky Sly Cooper!

Hoo boy, was this a doozy. Can't even explain why it took so long but here we are, at the finish line and I think it might have some of my best platformer sprites yet.

I only played this for the first time last year and it was a really enjoyable experience. I also did half of the second one and a small chunk of the third one to see how the series progressed and I was fascinated with how each game altered and furthered the formula! So why did I never play it at the time? Well, like many, the Jak and Daxter and Ratcher and Clanks series ate up a lot of the funds at the time, and the most I could venture outside these two juggernauts was a small skirmish into Ty the Tasmanian Tiger (which I still actually do prefer over Sly in some ways, but they're still really solid games. Maybe I just like the aussie setting and Ty being closer to Banjo Kazooie collect-o-thon than sly ;D)

So if you haven't checked out the Sly Cooper series, go out there and try it! They did a remaster/trilogy a good while back for PS3 but it's also available on the PS store as a more modern way of getting it.

is this playable

I wish! All my demakes are purely mockups I'm afraid, but I do hope to make them more playable/demoish in the future.

the sprites are extremely good! I was struggling to picture how a stealth platformer could possibly work within the gameboy's limits, but seeing Sly's sneaky eyes peering over the top of a barrel sells the premise in a single screen. I missed most of the classic ps1/ps2 era franchises growing up, so this is another one to revisit. Glad you were finally able to make it work!

Thank you! Yeah I think that was part of the hurdle, how to transcend the sneaky elements but I think it worked out. I actually spent a while switching Sly's eye peering over from two pixels to one pixel, and I'm glad I ended on one pixel, makes him look even shiftier/peepier! Hope you get a chance to check it out, and more out. I'm a sucker for the era of collect-o-thon platformers or just regular action/adventure platformers like Sly. There's still so many out there too!
