This one suffers from an issue that several of the later episodes suffer from. The writer for this episode came in late and had some good ideas, but apparently a lot of the writers who were added around season 5 and on weren't all required to watch the entire series beforehand. They only had to watch certain "highlight" episodes. So several episodes starting in season 5, and I think this one in particular, the entire plot revolves around or heroes forgetting everything they've learned over the past few years and being complete morons. This is one where I feel Twilight stops being Twilight for plot reason and hate that. Also Celestia sighing and groaning at her subjects is something we never see in any other episode. I wish she was written better to be understanding of Starlight's issue and tried to be supportive if worried, letting her make her own mistakes and being available if things went wrong and hoping they'd go well. Especially with the number of reformed characters she's now associating with.

Pinkie Pie's hops are actually a different quadruped gait called "pronking" or "stotting." It's more common in gazelles, but horses sometimes do it.

When I saw this episode for the first time. I didn't wanna give Trixie a chance. I was full on denying the fact that she was growing on me. I hated how much I was starting to like her character. And it only gets better! Trixie is great! (no pun intended) And I'm glad that Twilight had to learn to give Starlight space to make decisions. Because her realizing it at the end of season 6 episode 2 didn't seem like enough to really learn it. I'm really glad this episode exists. Also, D.J. Pone-3. Her fan given name was Vinyl Scratch. And after they wrote the name into this episode a lot of people started to use both those names interchangeably for her. As I do.

So I had made a friend who was not good. And I eventually realized it. But before that, my other friend, one that I'd had for a couple years at that point, tried to tell me that I should be careful with this new friend. (It was an online friend, btw.) I was so taken aback by her reaction that I never really hung out with her anymore. I remember our last time going out to lunch was when we had that conversation. We went to Taco Johns because it was a short walk away from our local theater where we were doing shows at. Then, I quit going to the theater group. And stopped messaging her. And we grew apart. The online friend ended up stabbing me in the back and disappearing. So my IRL friend was right. But by then, it was too late. I couldn't see a way to fix our friendship. haven't spoken to her in almost 6 years at this point. So my stance on it is you gotta be careful about how you go about telling someone their friend is not good. I am very sensitive and impulsive. especially back then. I don't really know how she could done it to not end our friendship. I know there was a better way for me to handle it. I was naive, socially awkward and this person (IRL friend) was my first friend I made on my own. I should've fought for our friendship, but didn't. Come to think of it neither did she. I think the best way would've have been wait until a later meeting to tell me. Because I was excitedly telling her about a new friend I made. And it felt like she shot it down. In conclusion, it's very easy to start conflict or even end relationships by telling someone that a friend isn't a good friend. And you gotta be careful. But also, if a friend tells you that a new friend of yours is a bad influence, don't cut ties with that friend. No matter how much what they said hurt, they are trying to look out for you. And I wish I had listened to my friend, rather than getting hurt and running away from the issue and not facing it. I shouldn't have let this new, bad influence, friend be the thing to ruin my really good friendship with my IRL friend.

Both DJ Pon-3 and Vinyl Scratch were fan names for her because it was a long time before she ever got named. She eventually got named one of those for the toy and the other in one of the card games so it's presented that Vinyl Scratch is her name and DJ Pon-3 is her stage name.
