The thing I like about this episode, is how both families are really getting along quite well, Applejack is the only one who's *not* enjoying the novelty of all these new traditions and giving them a fair shake. Or at least, enjoying spending time with the Pie family, if not the activities and food Which reveals this episode's hidden life lesson: You cannot control your circumstances, not completely. And when you're hanging out with those you love, *what* you are doing won't necessarily be something everyone involved is interested in. But you can control how you look at things. Focus on the people you're with, and look for the best in your situation, and things will be a lot better and enjoyable Below is a poem one of my co-workers has printed out on their toolbox that explains this further: ATTITUDE Charles Swindoll "The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than successes, than what other people think, say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company... a church... a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we embrace for that day. We cannot change our past... we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play the one string we have, and that is our attitude... I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it. And so it is with you... we are in charge of our Attitudes” My personal quote to this concept is as follows: "Good luck is a mindset" There's no such thing as luck, things just happen. Whether the thing that happens is "good" or "bad" is rarely subjective, it's all in your head. Good things can look bad or neutral if you're in the wrong headspace, and Bad things can be neutral or even good if you look in the right places. You won't necessarily *actually* have good luck, because that doesn't exist, but the choice to *feel* like you have good luck is yours alone And as a bonus, the brain generally works better if it's happy, and others treat you nicer if you're not a stormy cloud, so.. in a weird way, if you trick your brain into thinking you have good luck, you will actually make better decisions that lead you to being in good situations more often, and others will be more friendly for you

My mom would just get us our presents pretty much as soon as winter vacation started. According to her, waiting until school was almost back up again when we won't have that much time to enjoy our presents didn't make sense, so she'd just buy us the things extremely early. Saved on wrapping paper too.

I see that you've realized the deep dark secret of ponies. They are naturally racist. Not even joking. At least 3 times in pony history they have succumb to blatant racism, and each time it didn't really get resolved until everyone was in mortal danger as a direct result of said racism. But hey, they are cute colorful ponies, so I'm pretty sure Hasbro will gladly sweep that under the rug until next time.
