Just a heads up, the video is correct, but the title of the patreon post is using the episode name from S5E22 (What about Discord?) instead of S4E22 (Trade Ya)

I guess the reason why the competition between Applejack and Rarity feels so weird is, because friendship is something that shouldn't have a "mensurable value". So kinda like saying "My friendship is worth more than your friendship. So I am the more important person in this friendship". It gives me the same feeling as when someone does something nice just so they can brag about how nice and they are.

I'm definitely thinking that the Rarity/AJ competition makes it feel bad because turning a friendship into a competition inherently makes it less. All the motivations are in the wrong place now. It's about being "nice" instead of being "good." Something this episode does that I particularly enjoyed was the lamp salesman. There are a few characters that pop up with various disabilities, and I like how they're shown but nobody makes a big deal out of it. Nobody treats the pegasus with the wheelchair differently than anybody else. Having grown up with a disability that frequently made me feel like I stood out, it's something I'd like to see more of in media.
