This episode was brilliant! It is a great commentary on  topics like rejection, love, and doing it in such a thoughtful way.  Garnet tries to be open and honest with her communication which for some might be blunt but it is better than the alternative where the kids try to soften the language.   In my opinion, sometimes when you're trying to let someone down softly they may find the smallest thing to hang on to to continue believing that there is a chance. The last thing you want to do is that.

Also the mailman learned that the Wayne he was fixating on Garnett was unhealthy and he really didn't need to be doing as much as he was doing.

One of the things I like about this episode is how it shows both extremes before coming around to the best approach for a hard conversation. Garnet's first letter, even though it is "honest and to-the-point", is harsh and doesn't say anything about why she's rejecting him, which likely would lead to him obsessing about it. Whereas, we saw the obvious flaw in Steven and Connie's approach, in that it leads to misunderstandings. But by the end, Garnet is able to be knd, but firm. Clear, but not harsh. Best way, if you can manage it. That said, the person being asked out doesn't ever OWE the asker anything. That mindset can lead bad places too.

I kept thinking to myself... wouldn't the easiest answer (except for "NO.") have been to tell him she's already in a relationship? Like... that's a pretty normal rejection. That said, that last advice she gave was a lot better for him in the end, I think.
