Regarding the comment of the day, that's one of the central conceits of the show in a nutshell: How do you find it within you to extend empathy and grace to those who have wronged you and done irreparable harm and how far should that empathy/grace extend? I think even the most emotional mature among us would struggle to empathize with Cinder were we in the shoes of our main characters. That struggle is the point, though. And does that mean our heroes are supposed to just lie down and take it in an attempt to talk it out? No, certainly not, in the case of who Cinder is now, that's likely a fool's errand. Finding empathy and charting the right course in pursuit of healing is one of our society's greatest challenges that we urgently need to solve.

That episode has such an important message. What does it mean, taking risks ? A life is made of many experiences, and you have to try things, you have to throw yourself into the unknown sometimes, you cannot simply remain idle in fear. When I was young, I always wanted to do new things, I didn't care if it could fail, I was listening to no one telling me it wouldn't work. Then growing up I became more careful, more conservative, wanting to protect what I had rather than risk it for more, and I only realized it recently. And it can be about anything, from investing, to trying new food, to any kind of thought you could have, in the end everything is about risk or security. Humanity evolved where it is right now because of these two things, taking what already works, and testing new things that could make it better. So what does your own experiences tell you ? Should you be more careful ? Should you be more opened to risk ?

So small thing, I'm belatedly thankful that I got to be the featured comment a ways back but in that comment I said we only had 1 episode to catch our breath....this was the episode. Because the next stretch is....we're at the top of the last hill and the coaster is about to go HARD like really really really HARD. Me seeing episode 11 and remembering it: Ouch, that one hurts, idk if David is ready. But, you have successfully passed it. Fortunately, there are some warm moments too, just to balance the tone of the episode. But as I say every time about the episode, Lindsay (Ruby VA), still does a good job, her "it's what happen to mom" almost puts me in the same state as Yang every time...
