Another thing to note about the Weiss short is that she doesn't have her scar so it was before her first trailer.

Fun fact: Smile is Ilia's song. I figure it's not spoilers at this point. You can actually hear it in the background of the short. And man the Weiss short has such a special place in my heart <3 Without it, I wouldn't be as into the series as I am now. Path to Isolation was the song that got me *really* loving the series and gave me the nudge I needed to start trying to write Weiss. Now I'm a massive canon rewrite and a huge AU into the series...

It's already been pointed out that Weiss doesn't have her eye scar in the short, but another thing is her ponytail is straight! Both Weiss' outfits so far have her ponytail off-center, and even Winter's bun is off center. That was a design decision to show how the two of them are choosing not to conform to the Schnee family dogma but in this short Weiss' pony is dead center

After vol 8 Weiss became best girl for me.. her character growth is amazing in RWBY.

I can't say that i can ever know what it is like to be the target of Race but as a women i can feel for Illya. I had wide eyes and wanted to travel and the first thing I was told was don't go out at night alone. Don't wear anything other then pants and a long shirt and don't drink anything ever out of an open container. Women faunus in the show have a double strike against them and i can see how one can easily be filled with rage at the injustice.
