Steven universe future goes a lot more in depth then the rest of the show with it's world building as season 1 onward shows story and diversity it mostly establishes the beginning of stevens story. Future continues and wraps up the ultimate timeline, as steven grows so did the show. You also get to see the animation change and better over time.

When it comes to fusion, each person involved shares their memories with the other, their feelings, their personality, everything. Typically if it’s a good relationship between the two fusing it will take the best parts from each person to make someone entirely new. They’re still separate in a sense mentally, but they also share the headspace which is why whenever Amethist and Pearl got mad at each other it wasn’t stable enough to keep Opal formed. Fusion, for humans at least, is supposed to be the representation of a strong relationship between two people. Arguments can cause the relationship to break down, but what happens after dictates their future. And I use relationship here very loosely in place of romantic, platonic, familial, sexual, but also the opposite if all of that, people you hate you can have a bond with (in a sense) where your mutual dislike of one another can lead to a ‘relationship’ where you actively avoid or confront one another. All of these get explored during the show, but there’s never a set definition for what it is other than two people becoming one.

I would freak out like Pearl inwardly, but I'd like to think that I'd act maturely and not actually lash out like Pearl does here. Amethyst's sarcastic jab certainly isn't helping, but Pearl's complaining about Amethyst's attitude instead of managing her own panic just makes the situation worse.
