Just catching up with your reactions to this show. Great job you guys! People can say whatever they want about the story - I am greatly enjoying it so far BTW - but I don't think anyone can deny that most of the visuals are amazing, stunning really.

I definitely feel like the similarities between Halbrand and Aragorn are intentional. I can't help but think he's going to basically "be" Aragorn in that he'll rally his people and become their king but because they've set it up that the Southlands are going to become Mordor Halbrand is going to either fail and be beaten by the orcs or worse betray everyone and join the orcs.

Halbrand should be placed most definitely on Nazgul watch - that is if he does not end up being Sauron himself - I mean, a good looking charmer, with unique smithing skills and serious anger issues. He didn't think twice about abandoning the people on the raft - this is something Aragorn would have never done! - and in episode 4 he literally tells Galadriel to: "Identify what it is that your opponent most fears, give them a means of mastering it, so that YOU can master THEM."... Talk about Galadriel touching the darkness! 😲

Yeah I am inclined to agree with ALL of that, not to mention the very first line of dialogue he says is "not everyone is who they seem" like COME ON, HALBRAND. He's not foolin us!

Yeah I think there's a dark reveal coming with his character. I don't think it's gonna be a decision in the moment to betray his people, I think he's been playing the long game

Absolutely, it's a visual feast and the storytelling can be the cherry on top (or not, a sundae is still good without a cherry lol)
