And as a caretaker of these sirens, sometimes these guys will ask for help during their eggy-periods hahah. And not just one, probably all of them at the same time. they get to be pampered more than usual and you get some extra snacks to put back into the tank. They can’t communciate with you (too small, and speaks in their own high pitched singing. But other sirens in general can understand them in the simplest of terms) but for sure they are communicating with each other to make coordinated attempts for attention.

tank mates are sometimes but not uncommomly same sex to prevent accidental breeding, mostly you can house them together and it’s no problem (simply are disinterested) but as a caretaker, some of them want to and they will wish for it. by then you can choose a good pair(s) or have them choose. once you have a batch of babies the community of goldfishes will care for them till they either stay or be given to other caretakers. (When they reach adulthood) this method is the only real way to have a “supply” of goldfish sirens with all seperate varieties from commons, fan tails, to telescopes, and rarer breeds. they are highly sought after and becasuse of the low supply and high demand, many decorational/domestic varieties of sirens are highly expensive.  not only is it from a secretive society of sirens in general, you have to be vetted, since these are small sirens and even though they are dangerous in of itself, they are at risk of getting hurt by bigger things. if your human, you have to be accepted by the sirens, vetted for a long time, have training, and through all that.... have a small pod  that will accept you as is.
