Deep beneath the halls and underground laboratories of the city's most grand mage tower, the Vermin Tribe has set up its own rooms for experiments.
Many curious, strange, and dangerous substances flow down the tower along with the sewage. Many "unrepairable" devices land in the garbage. Even after being magically cleansed before disposal, their magic oftentimes remains strong.
Ratfolk engineers are not bound by the same constraints as surface dwellers. The lives of those subjected to experimentation come cheap. Uncontrolled body modifications and brutal doses of injections are common occurrences. Even though a massive explosion will rip apart the undercity tunnels from time to time, some of these experiments are eventually successful. The creatures born this way are fearsome beyond imagination.
