Hello everyone,

We put a great deal of effort into making our models unique. As artist we are very concerned with copyrights and respecting other authors property. It is our absolute priority.

Countless times our work has been copied, models have been used by other companies, sold without approval, shared publicly without consent. We know how upsetting each of these situations are and we know how much it hurts.

All the more it struck us when it occurred on our end. How this Patreon expands due to your support is our driving force. We want to give you as much as we can and it led to a hurry. We know that it's not quite an explanation but in all this, we did not thoroughly check the work commissioned to other associates that create the models apart from Daniel and Sławek. We released a part of the model that is based on the model featured by the Artisan Guild. Specifically, the horse of the Vampire Prince.

As we have nothing but exceptional respect for Artisan Guild - they are true pioneers that led the way for many artists creating 3D models - it is a shattering negligence, which everyone on our team took as a deep personal failure.

We will not let anything like this happen again. We will make every effort to examine the process of our artists every step of the way to be sure about their work.

In this place, we would like to address the apology to you, Andrea and Francesca, for this situation and express our admiration for your work. Thank you for your immeasurable understanding. We hope that you understand that we would never purposely let anything like this happen and that you know how sorry we are. We wish you nothing but further success and hope that our roads will cross only in positive situations and perhaps future cooperations.

We also owe a big apology for the situation to you, the Patrons. The mentioned model has been removed from the May Release. It will be replaced with a new one as quickly as it is possible.

It might sound weird, although it should not, but we want to thank everyone who did not let this issue pass unnoticed and spread the word. Even though this is our mistake we truly believe that our 3D community should support the artists in such situations. We are glad that you did not leave it without a reaction. As saddening as this experience is, it is also an opportunity to improve our work.

We hope that the process of replacing the model will not bring you much trouble. We will be back with more updates soon.

TF Team

EDIT: Back story - Andrea from Artisan Guild reached out to us with information that Vampire Prince's horse was recreated from their model. He pointed out details that showed that the sculptor used his horse and made some small changes. He asked us to do something about it in the most polite way we could imagine in this situation. We removed everything as soon as we were informed and Sławek created a brand new horse for the model.

Thanks for owning it and leaning in instead of being mealy mouthed about it.

It’s a shame that something like that happened, great explanation, and as a patron I support you with that decision! Keep up the good work!

Anonymous

The statement helps a lot. Thank you for clarifying .

Anonymous

Things happen. I appreciate you taking ownership.

Adam

Respect to you TF team! This is ownership.

Anonymous

Make it a vampire slayer.. ( BELMONT )

Anonymous

Not sure the back story of what happened but thanks for handling it like adults. Solid.

Anonymous

Thx for the update and for doing what is right

Anonymous

I totally missed the whole thing ;could someone explain me what happened? From what I've understand, the vampire prince resembled an artisan's guild miniature, but beign a new patron i don't know which one...

Anonymous

The more and more the 3D mini sculpting community grows, there will be more situations like this happening and it will get more difficult to come up with fully original designs and sculptures. But that being said, TF handled this situation with utmost maturity and respect for Artisan Guild and your decision has been don’t in the best interest to everyone including the us your Patreons. Side note: An Important side note - the TF and AG collaboration would be the most perfect way to heal the hurt and disappointment that each Sculpting Patreon feels. Who agrees..... let’s vote for a massive collaboration

Robert Jönsson

Mistakes happen, it’s how you deal with it afterwards that matter. 10/10.

shit happens, mistakes happen. such is life; we can't expect perfection from humans. what really matters is handling things with honesty and making efforts to prevent or reduce the bad. on to the next one!

Anonymous

10/10 for honesty, mistakes are made and life goes on. Very mature from all parties.

Anonymous

will remain to be a patreon of you guys, happy with delivered quality of work and hiccups like these don't change that, learn from it and own up to it, which you are doing cudos!

Jefferson Thacker

This happens all the time in the creative industry. Its unfortunate and you are handling it correctly. Ive had to make similar calls in my own works. I've had to tell a friend he had to throw away hundreds of dollars of commission art because we discovered the artist was doing this. Don't beat yourselves up too much. You're doing the right thing.

Anonymous

Well, at least it was a mistake and you owned up to it. I have yet to download the files for this month, so I hadn't had a chance to look at the files. No big loss on my part, though. Keep being excellent

Anonymous

dang i really liked that model... was it a total mock up?

Anonymous

Really fantastic response to a major (but probably inevitable) mix up. Appreciate your respectful and thoughtful handling of the situation.

Anonymous

We all make mistakes. It's what we do with those mistakes that matters. You guys are honest about it and don't try to weasel your way out of it, and that deserves respect. Keep up the good work, and I'm already looking forward to the next release. :) Greeting from a Titan-Forge and Artisan Guild subscriber.

Guy Grundell

What a shame, I love that model so would rather not change it, but I'm sure you guys will blow that sculpt out of the park also with your signature version!! 😀👍

titanforgeminis

It does not matter. There were parts that show without any doubt that AG models was used. The extent of that use is not important.

Anonymous

As long as Artisan Guild is cool with you again, you did everything right to solve the situation. Good move to speak openly about that mistake.

Anonymous

Hey Everyone, post here is you agree that the collaboration between TF and AG would interest you. I am part of both Patreons and I think it would be really awesome. Let’s see if it will gain traction (if it doesn’t it still will boost both TF and AG in support and probably would still be able to let both Patreons gain more subs) either way it will be positive for both.

Steed

No worries, well done for your candour.

Anonymous

What horse are we talking about?

Anonymous

Mistakes can be made. The real point is how someone react to them. Well done

Erik Waring

Sounds like a terrible situation but it's awesome that you have stepped up, admitted the mistake, and took immediate action. Bad situation but a stand up response that shows concern for the community and other artist. To be honest I wasn't all that wild about that model and it's one of the few I hadn't printed yet. While I'm a subscriber to both patreons out of respect for both I just won't print him, or at least until the horse has been subbed out.

Anonymous

Appreciate you’re willingness to not make excuses. This would be an excellent opportunity to at a vampire slayer type character to the release! ;)

Anonymous

Great response! Buuut..I'd never heard of the Artisan Guild before. Just checked them out! And decided to support them too. Bit of a silver lining!

Anonymous

well I suppose you will not work anymore with the guy who made the copy, no? it’s kind of a trust issue :/

Anonymous

These things can happen and you did the best correction in my opinion, good for you and stand proud you guys are still awesome

Anonymous

Since that particular artist plagiarized something so obvious, would that mean he/she may have plagiarized other work in the past also?

The Miniature Underground

which horse is it meant to be? i cant find anything similar enough to be a copy

WRL23

Soooo can we see this comparison that made that determination? Honestly just curious what defined a horse distinctly enough.. not questioning it. Bringing this up because their 'Oni' things show some resemblance to your dragon empire, so what 'crosses the line'?

Basicfull

I found one model that could have made the comparison too. Regardless if true or petty, either way TFM, I applaud you for the action(s) you have taken thus far!

Anonymous

Excellent show of integrity. As a backer of both Patreons I appreciate your integrity and am quite happy to continue to support your work.

Brett

looks like AG's centaur body maybe. mirrored pose and same fur on the fore limbs.

Anonymous

Well... things like that are happening all the time everywhere in the world (both intended or not). You handle the situation like a pro! So it’s no big deal for me! 😉👍

Anonymous

It's great that it's been taken care of so amicably.

Anonymous

There's only so many ways to sculpt a rearing horse ... (unless you know that your artist started from their model)

Anonymous

I am new to your Patreon and I am also a librarian (who teaches copyright etiquette). I am really impressed with your handling of this situation. I have noticed that in some communities there is intense respect for the creative work of others and the Gaming Community is one of those. Thank you for being willing to admit an error, intentional or not, and for attempting to correct it. You are a better example for kids than many in politics these days.

Anonymous

The Oni are eastern style like the Dragon Empire, that's everything those sets have in common. The horse of the vampire prince was a modified version of a horse that Artisan Guild designed months ago. That's the difference :)

Anonymous

Screw-ups happen to the best of us, it's how we deal with them and their fallout that defines us.

Anonymous

And may try to do so again in the future. I'd look for a new sculptor if I were you. It's impossible to check everything with every other model ever made, easier to replace a person who has proven to be a liability.

Anonymous

All will be forgiven when the new model looks even better.

Anonymous

Honestly I feel like the Prince riding the Wagon Beast would be frickin' awesome.

Anonymous

Good reaction, had no idea anything was amiss but highly supportive of the steps taken.

Anonymous

Such a proactive stance is commendable. I'm a huge fan of TF and Artisan Guild. I actually support BOTH on Patreon already. You guys all do great work

Anonymous

Oh man this admirable response just earned both companies my continued patronage. Both so mature and understanding, cheers boys!

John Norton

Is the replacement model up yet?

titanforgeminis

Model has already been replaced. The issue was the horse and not the whole model so Sławek made a new mount. Character, armour, weapon, etc. were ok so it might seem like the same model but all elements that fringed any copyrights were removed.

Anonymous

Did you ever release the separate horse mini?

Anonymous

I just saw this post and never got to download this model. Is there a way to still get it?
